Thalia Chase was scared of heights.
Not everyone knew this. But her friends did, and so did most of the Hunters. And, of course, the gods knew.
She did not climb cliffs. She did not abseil. She did not like flying.
But what nobody realised was that she wasn't just scared of physical heights.
She was terrified of taking a risk and it backfiring, terrified of making a gamble and losing everything she had. She had done it once before, and never again.
Because, ever since Luke had betrayed her, there would be nobody to catch her when she fell.
