My first fic for a manga other than Bleach. It was unexpected, I just suddenly got the urge to write this after reading a this really amazing manga. The manga's called Blank Slate, or Akusaga. There really isn't a point to posting this in front of a fanfic, but oh well :) If you can, you should read it, this manga.
Disclaimer: If I owned Akusaga, then it'd be longer :'(
She had everything.
Material objects. Love. An influential background.
So, why?
Why, still.
Still.
She had been unable to stop herself from wanting more.
Desire.
Greed.
Lusting after something non-existent.
My world has always been dark.
Nothing would have changed.
But for that.
Was it fate (so chide her for using such foolish words) that had led to this? Destiny? Or was it merely a coincidence?
There are too many questions. And the answers aren't there. Even if they were, she wouldn't be able to see them. For her world has always been pitch black.
Dreaming a foolish dream.
Hope.
Desire.
In the end, it is all the same.
Her mind had been shattered. All the thick barriers around it, protection, stability, faith. All it had taken were those words. Fateful (or not) words on a fateful (un-fateful) day.
The ties that bind and yet protect me.
Were ripped away on that day.
The sunlight, it was bright, yet dark, on that day.
And she was happy. Her first. The first.
That man, he had been the only one.
The only one, who violently and at the same time casually tore off her chains.
Quick, and sudden. He was thrown into her life.
At that time.
She had taken his hand.
Thrown away her heart.
Let him lead her into the dark sunshine.
For him, it was but nothing. For her, it had changed her world.
The first big step.
A scar.
A muddy boot print on the pristine bonds of her world.
From there her desires had firmly taken root. She couldn't let it go.
Her life.
Her perfect pitch-black world.
The desire to throw it all away into the mud of the past fully surfaced, and the wings erupted.
Yet still.
What use is a winged marionette? The wings are flightless, for the strings holding the doll to earth.
She had thought.
And hoped.
And dreamed.
In a world where there was no room for such things.
Her acceptance.
It was cracked, fractured irrevocably.
Turning back was impossible.
So she had walked, run forwards.
All for the sake of herself.
Cutting her ties.
Shattering her bonds.
Breaking her chains.
She would seek her freedom wherever it be, light or darkness.
So she had run forwards.
Without regret.
Even now, she did not have any remorse.
For what she had done, she had chosen.
Taken a step towards freedom.
The first and last.
Fears had been tossed out of the window.
Precaution too.
She had thrown it all away.
All for the sake of that one thing.
For the sake of herself.
For the sake of her freedom.
For his sake.
All of it was the same, one way or another.
And she knew.
She would never regret taking that path.
Running, throwing herself forwards.
Even as the world had grown distant.
The last word on her lips faded away.
It had been so hard, and so easy all that the same time.
He was close.
He was the same.
And also phenomenally different.
That happiness.
Let's meet again.
And she was smiling.
It was really hard to write about Rian. I felt like bawling my eyes out through typing the whole thing! :( Seriously depressing, but I'm glad I read it.
Plz review, if you can.
