My father always told me the story of how he became king. He told me that twenty years ago my grandfather was murdered by a group of assassins who called themselves "The Cold Heart." I don't know how true this is, but I've accepted it. But eighteen years later, here I am, thinking about how true this was.

I didn't understand, but now I do. He is a racist pokèmon, a cruel hydriegon wanting power. Even enough to banish his own wife. A togekiss. I never saw her after the moment I was born, my father said she was a traitor. For some reason he kept me, a togetic. A fairy, an enemy of the dragons.

My first name used to be Blood, my middle was Ruby. I was told that this was a nice thing to be namede. Tonight it changes, I shall be known as Garnet.
