A/N I took the one minute preview and ran with it. So I guess spoilers for the 1 minute preview of the season 9 finale?
Chapter 1
His gaze lingered too long. As he returned his attention forward, he saw Jerry watching him.
It took a few minutes for Jerry to work up the courage to ask and even then he sounded hesitant. "Does it ever bother you?"
Ezekiel had an excuse to look again. He followed Jerry's gaze back to where his Queen was walking in step with Daryl while he had Jerry as his traveling companion.
Ezekiel deflected. "Does it bother your wife how close you and I are? Or you and Dianne are?"
"No, but ..."
"Jerry, of course the are close. They've known each other since the first days of the Curse. They met in the a makeshift refugee camp outside of Atlanta. Before there was Morgan or Rick or Michonne, there was Daryl."
Ezekiel continued. "I'm just grateful that Daryl has been around to help keep her safe all this time."
Jerry looked a bit dubious about that. "Pretty sure it's the other way around, your Majesty."
They shared a laugh as Ezekiel agreed. "Truer words have never been spoken, my friend."
Looking properly chastised for even posing the question, Jerry tipped his head forward. "I'm going to go check in at the front."
Ezekiel nodded. "You do that."
With Jerry gone, Ezekiel couldn't stop himself from again turning his gaze to the pair behind him.
