A/N: I hope you enjoy! This is my first story!
I don't own the characters or plot of The Mortal Instruments.

Clary POV

I wake up gasping, and choking. I feel my face and find that I'm crying. I rub my hands over my arms in an attempt to make the goose bumps go away.

That was one of the worst nightmares I've ever had about Sebastian. I shiver again just thinking about.

I decide to call one of the people I know can calm me down.

Jace POV

I'm woken from a perfectly peaceful slumber by my phone screaming at me. I fumble to find it in the dark on my nightstand with my face still in the pillow. Without bothering to pick my face up, I answer it.

"Hello," I say through a sleep-muddled voice.

"Jace?" says my favorite voice in the world.
"Clary," I sit up, "Clary, what's wrong?"

She takes a deep, shaky breath, "I- I um…"

"Clary, did you call me at 3 am just to mumble into your phone at me," I ask, slightly amused, beside myself.

"I couldn't think of anyone else to call and I-," she breaks off sobbing.

My heart breaks into a thousand pieces.

"Do you want me to come over?"

"Yes please," she mumbles quietly.

"Give me 20 minutes," and I hang up.

I pull on some pants and a sweatshirt and leave Maryse a note. I start walking to Clary's place, not knowing what to expect when I show up.

Clary POV

I'm still sitting on my bed when I hear something hit the window. I walk over in the dark and open it. Before I know it Jace is standing in front of me in sweat pants and a sweat shirt. I bury my face in chest and cry. I feel myself being lifted off the floor and being set on the bed. When I'm finally quiet he asks:

"Clary, what happened?"

I tell him all about the dream that I had, and how this dream continues to haunt my sleeping hours.

"I'm sorry I woke you up," I say quietly.

"Don't apologize," he says. He hooks a finger under my chin and forces me to look at his golden eyes. "It's okay. But you need to go back to sleep, you have training tomorrow."

I shake my head at him. "I don't want to go back to sleep. I'll just have another nightmare, and I can't handle it," I say as my eyes start to well up again.

"Hey. Hey. Don't cry, Clary," he says in a pained voice.

He kisses my forehead and gently pushes my body onto the mattress. He starts to stroke my hair with one hand, and rub my back with his other hand. I realize exactly what he's trying to do.

"Jace," I whine.

"I'm not sleeping until you do," he says defiantly.

"Fine," I say, in an equal tone.

We stare at each other for a few seconds until I lean in and kiss him on the lips. He pulls back almost immediately.

"Clary. You have to sleep. If you have a nightmare I'll be right here," he says.

I stare defiantly at him. After almost a minute I sigh in defeat. I lay my head down on his chest and sling my arm over his stomach. He sighs happily.

"Thank you," he says almost inaudibly.

"Not so fast, Lightwood," I say, "I need a favor before I'll go back to sleep."

His body shakes with laughter. "Anything for you, my darling."

I turn my head and look at him, "Tell me a story?"

He smiles at me. "Of course," he says, "what kind of story?"

"Something that you would tell a toddler, something not scary, anything that doesn't have to do with shadowhunters, and demons," I say defiantly.

He shakes his head, "I don't know many of those," he says sadly.

"Well make something up."

He laughs again, "Fine, Ms. Bossy," he says sarcastically. "Once upon a time there was a giraffe…"

He continues and I close my eyes, only now realizing how tired I actually was.

We both fall asleep like that, with my head on his chest, him telling a story. It's the best nights sleep I've had since I got Jace back.

I hope you enjoyed! R&R if you want! *muah*
