Being a part of Sora is like being a part of an endless dream. Xion likens the process to rain and the ocean: millions of drops rejoining the original great body of water. It feels somewhat ethereal.
But sometimes, she wakes up from the dream, temporarily separates herself from the ocean, and gains small moments of awakening.
After what seems like forever, Xion opens her eyes. She looks around Sora's heart, an endless white plane of existence. While she's "awake", she is mostly free to explore Sora's memories and thoughts, before she's pulled back into the great ocean of his heart.
Xion yawns and smiles. It feels like it's been a while since she'd woken up again, but she reminds herself that it always feels that way. She stands up and stretches, starting to think of what memory to look through today. The raven-haired teen sees a figure in the distance. Xion squints her eyes at it, but she still can't make out the figure.
Xion has this strange feeling in her gut that the figure doesn't belong here.
So she chases after it. It grows bigger and bigger, and Xion notices, it-no, he looks like Sora. With jet-black hair and an organic looking bodysuit. Isn't that Riku's outfit? Her curiosity is now definitely piqued, and she sprints faster towards the teenage boy. She reaches out to touch him when he turns his head to look at her with piercing gold eyes. As if touched by lightning, Xion is shocked by an invisible barrier.
She flies through the air a couple feet back, and Xion winces in pain, holding her head as she gets up.
The teenage boy snickers at her. He drawls, "Not too bright, are you?"
Xion frowns and dusts herself off. "What is your name?" she asks firmly, taking a few steps forward.
"Don't get too close. I wouldn't want a pretty girl like you to get shocked like that again." he says, his voice dripping with sarcasm. Xion almost growls before repeating the question. "I said, what's your name?" she says, her eyebrows furrowed.
"Vanitas."
