Sleepless Night of a Reality Dream
" I never meant to harm you in anyway but it's just to hard to be with you."
Those words filled with sorrow, emptiness and pain was like a steel knife through her heart. After all those times they both thought they could last, everything shattered in front of them without a warning or a signal.
Ashley hugged her knees closer to her chest as her wet tears slide gently down her soft cheeks. Remembering the memories of when everything seemed perfect just made her heart fill with regret. She should've known better than to get his hopes up and let her heart go, knowing that it was impossible for a happy ending. They both lived miles away from each other and had to fight to see one another for only a short period of time. Ashley knew it was time to let go, but letting go meant moving on and her heart just kept denying the truth.
Thousands of promises were broken with just one sentence. Promises of love, hopes, dreams and happiness were now what we call the past. As the clock kept ticking, the emotions that they shared kept disappearing but no matter how much they leave, the memories of the both of them were still vivid in Ashley's mind. Holding on to each other at the park like forever was in their hands, laughing and sharing drinks at the mall like nobody but them were living this world. Oh how she wished to re-live those moments and never let it go. The boy who loved Ashley loved every bit of her, even her imperfections.
Ashley closed her eyes, letting the last bucket of tears pour. She swore to herself mentally that this would be the last relationship she would ever be with. As she opened her eyes once again to face the future ahead of her, someone she least expected stood.
"I can't do this anymore," whispered a pain-filled voice.
Ashley looked away and nodded.
"You already told me. I already let you go," she said with an unstable and cracked voice.
"No, I mean I can't do this anymore. I thought being with you was hard but I never knew how much harder letting go of you, of us was. When I left you, I was still madly in love with you and I thought that time would heal everything but I was wrong because I am never going to stop loving you Ashley Stevens and I came back to tell you that I want you to be mine again. I want us to be together like the summer we spent."
The boy eyes filled with tears after confessing his feelings. He looked towards his feet, not knowing what lied in front of him.
Ashley slowly stood up, knowing exactly what lied in front of her. She took small but slow steps towards him and lifted his chin up and sweetly placed her baby pink lips on his.
"I love you Ashley Stevens."
"I love you too Max Connors."
Tonight I shall not sleep, for reality is better than my dreams.
