Colorless neverland, abode of animagus' and other woodland faeries. Silence was a place of storybook illustrations come to life and a dimension all its own, impossible to stumble upon, impossible to discover.
A creature like a centuar hides behind the brush. A timid fawn, Bakura, with cherry-blossom-branch antlers sprouting from his white mop. Always wide-eyed and cautious. Always observing the others.
Marik, an orange, bushy-tailed fox man, was down on all fours, preying on one of the dainty faeries of the forest. His eyes were always judging, and his personality sly. Bakura watched him carefully. Watched his fluid movements, his eyes staring out of his head. Bakura hadn't ever seen this fellow creature until now. Faeries were common, but animagus', no.
The fox almost had the green faerie. Bakura wondered if Marik would hurt her, what sort of monster he could have been.
With a pounce, Marik cupped the faerie in his palms, and he and the faerie giggled. A game, nothing more than a game. For a creature so serious, he was actually quite the child. Bakura wasn't so childish. He preferred to observe. Bakura wasn't so kind. He preferred monstrocity.
Eyes on him. He had been discovered in his brush lookout. His heart fell and his feet wobbled beneath him, struggling to prance away. Bakura didn't want acquaintences. He preferred his lonliness and his brother. Nobody else could possibly grow on him.
Though the fawn ran, Marik was quick. Bakura was tripped by the fox. He grimaced at the fellow creature. The fox stared back, as though he were judging him thoroughly. Disgustingly vulnerable.
Marik had never seen a creature like Bakura before. The fox had only ever had faeries for playmates. Who was this Bakura kid? He wanted to make friends with him.
The pale boy resented this child that bothered him so. He scrambled to his hooves and pranced away into the deep forest. He ran to the safety of his naive brother at home, and Marik wondered if he would ever see him again. For now, though, he had the faeries.
Author's Note: New story, guys! Enjoy the Silence is a fic I hope to give a children's storybook-like tone, much like The Wolf, but without the horror and gore. (The Wolf is more like an adult's children story... kind of backwards, I know) I know it's a little odd, to have the Yu-Gi-Oh! characters as such mythical creatures, but I was so inspired by Depeche Mode's Enjoy the Silence that I couldn't help myself. Something about the song made me picture all the characters as these half-human half-animal creatures, and I adored them. If any of you follow me on deviantART, I was a picture posted of what Bakura looks like.
This is obviously Alternate Universe, and some of the character's personalities are obviously OOC, but I hope you can forgive me. I just have this vision, and I like it enough to want to share it.
Thank you so much for reading!
