Lost and Found

By AMY

I looked up at him. He was probably the tallest person I have ever known. My werewolf friend smiled back.

"I still don't think that was necessary," I said. I thought back to what happened a few minutes earlier. Jacob was complaining about the smell in our house, which he always did. I could not help it though. He thought my mom and dad smelled bad, but I was an acceptation. I was just annoyed.

"Nessie, I'm sorry. It's just my instincts," Jacob explained.

"I don't give a crap about your stupid instincts. You insulted me," I shrieked. Jacob just smiled in response. He never got mad at me.

"Nessie, Nessie, Nessie," He said, shaking his head. "I'm really sorry about that. I will never do it again. I'm kind of getting used to it," He said the last sentence through his teeth, and then smiled my favorite smile.

"Fine," I surrendered. He was still smiling at me. He looked at me these days, different somehow. I was finally full grown, and now he noticed that. I looked away for just a second to hide the fact that I was blushing. I was blushing? For Jacob? What was going on?!

He noticed I was blushing, and by that he took my hands in his. This was normal, however, because we always held hands. It was just our friendly way. We were best friends forever.

He stared into my chocolate brown eyes for what seemed like forever. I didn't mind it though. I looked into his eyes, too. The way he looked at me, it made me feel different. My whole body was tingling with a feeling I never felt before. My heart felt warm, it felt whole.

Jacob seemed to take notice in how I was feeling. He leaned in toward me, and first I had no idea what he was doing. But then, his lips were on mine. I closed my eyes, as my head swirled with confusion. Jacob was my friend, my buddy. What was going on? But I set those thoughts aside, because I actually liked him kissing me. I kissed him back. This enthralled Jacob, and by this he griped onto me.

We came up for air, suddenly, and I was smiling. I could not help it. All these years, and I always knew I loved Jacob, but never in this way. I always saw him as nothing but a best friend, but now he was more. He was my life. It never mattered that my kind and his kind were supposed to be enemies. It only mattered how we felt toward each other.

Even though I had a lot of thoughts going through my mind, and I wanted to say so much to Jacob, all I could say was, "Wow."

"Yeah...Wow," Jacob agreed, his voice high and triumphant. I wondered what was going through his mind. "What are you thinking," Jacob suddenly asked me. I rested my hand on his cheek to show him every bit of what was going on through my mind.

"Me too," Jacob agreed to my thoughts. He took my hand off his cheek and held it.

"I imprinted on you when you were born," Jacob said suddenly, confessing. I thought back to the day Jacob explained what it meant to me. It was just something we were talking about, because I was curious. I never thought to ask him if he ever imprinted. I never noticed how he acted towards me. I just never thought of that conversation much again. And now the pieces of the puzzle were unfolding.

"Oh…," I trailed off. There was nothing else to say.

"Oh crap," Jacob said. "Your dad's home, I better go…"
I thought about my dad. He must have read our thoughts already. Oh, crap. Were dead. Well actually Jacobs dead. He has a strange dislike for him.

Before I could protest, Jacob was out of the house. I was left to deal with my dad.

The End
