Written for The Seasons Inspired Challenge: Making Pumpkin Pie

Written for the 100 Little Things Challenge: Lightly kiss their collarbone and their jawbone just below the ear, then whisper I love you.

James Potter returned home from work to find his house smelling like freshly baked pies, cookies, and brownies. He removed his cloak, hanging it up in the hallway before entering the kitchen. He smiled when he saw his newlywed wife Lily hard at work in the kitchen beginning to make another pumpkin pie. A row of apple and pumpkin pies along with cookies and brownies on a nearby counter. He snuck up behind her, wrapping his arms around the waist, and kissed the top of her head. "Hello," he murmured smiling.

"James, don't sneak up on me like that," Lily scolded him smiling back at him. She leaned up to kiss his cheek before returning to her baking. "Do me a favor and grab the pie from the oven. It should be finished in a couple minutes," she murmured while trying to remove herself from his grasp in order to reach for her ingredients.

"Not so fast," he shook his head chuckling keeping a tight grip on her waist. He lightly kissed her collarbone and then her jawbone just below her ear whispering, "I love you."

"I love you too," she returned the sentiment turning around in his arms so she was facing. She placed a flour covered hand on his cheek, staring deeply into his eyes for a moment before kissing him only breaking apart when she smoke rising from the oven. "James, the pies!" she shrieked looking for her oven-mitts hysterical.

James calmly cast a spell opening the oven, removing the pies, setting them on cooling racks, and closing the oven. He grabbed Lily by her arm gently pulling her into a hug. "It's okay relax, Lily," he murmured calming her down. He knew she only tended to bake when stressed especially if she was baking in this large of a quantity. He gently stroked her hair waiting for her to relax a bit before asking, "What happened? Why are you stress baking again?"

Lily shook her head drying her eyes. "Nothing, it's no big deal," she mumbled shaking her head again before resuming her work on the next pumpkin pie. At the look her response earned from James she sighed explaining, "It's everything, okay? I worry about everything. The whole war has me nervous especially with all of us in the Order. I worry constantly when anyone's sent on a mission. I miss when we were at school and our biggest concern was homework or passing a test."

James nodded, walking over to her, and hugging her once again. "It'll be okay, Lil. We're going to be fine. We'll be safe, all of us: you, me, Sirius, Remus, and Peter. We'll all live long, happy lives I promise," he reassured her silently promising to himself that he would do whatever it takes to keep that promise.
