Our subconscious Home- chapter one

All was quiet on the bridge of the starship voyager. The night shift had just begun. Harry Kim sat in the captains chair half asleep. He was thinking of home, would they ever make it, how old would he be, would his family still be alive? His thoughts were invaded by a red light and a loud aubnoxios siren.

"two Klingon ships decloaking off the port bow!" shouted a nameless ensign going red with worry.

Harry is out of the chair and pacing around the bridge by this point.

"contact the captain," he turns to the ensign "are you sure, Klingons in the delta quadrant?"

"fairly sure, sir."

"call all senior officers to the conference room, maintain high warp and alert me as to any danger."

"yes, sir."

The tension in the room was high. Everybody sat with puzzled looks on their faces. Captain Janeway stood up at the head of the table her hands spread out before her.

"So, two Klingon ships decloaking, Mr Kim."

"Yes, ma'am, that's what she said off the port bow and then she walked off the bridge and I called the meeting."

Tuvok stands up "we returned to those coordinates and there was no evidence of Klingon vessels."

"I'm telling you I saw them with my own eyes they, were there!"

"Are those the eyes that desperately need an eye test?"

"Very funny, tom!" harry started to get very angry and as starting to go red in the face.

"BOYS," the captain turned to B'ellanna "run a diagnostic on the sensors and the conn screen on the bridge just to check."

"Yes, ma'am."

"Harry, please report to sickbay, the doctor would like to run some tests."

"but there's nothing wrong with me."

"I know but we just want to be on the safe side, dismissed."

Everybody got up and left except the captain who sat looking out the window into space and thought.

The phscadelic blue glow of the warp core threw shadows over engineering where B'ellanna was working. Vorik walked over to where she stood he placed a padd down on the console next to her and peered emotionlessly over her shoulder.

"Thank you, ensign." She muttered without looking up.

"I wish to know what you are doing with THAT in engineering."

"With what?"

"With THAT!" he shouted pointing to a point on that console next to her.

"There's nothing there, I think you should go to sick bay and get the doctor to take a look at you 'cause I think you're hallucinating!"

"I suppose you're right." Vorik walked off. As the doors whirred shut she shook her head and went back to her work.

"Apart from a few raised endorphins you both seem perfectly normal." As the doctor was speaking the captain strode in casually and stopped near the Bio bed Vorik was sat on and harry stood next to.

"What's the prognosis, doctor?"

"As I was just telling these two, everything seems the same as their last check-up."

"We've scanned every inch of engineering and there are no signs of any animals or other life forms like you described. There are three other reported cases of the same situations; however we have found what we think to be a connection. All the species described are native to the alpha quadrant!"
