The Line
Between Love and Hate
Ichiru doesn't have to tell Shizuka that he has nightmares, she knows because she is the one to occasionally wake him from his night terrors. It has not been long since they left his mother and father dead, his brother broken. She doesn't ask what he dreams of and he doesn't offer to tell her. He's afraid that if he did utter the words, the descriptions of what happens in his dreams that he will break something. Be it Shizuka's heart, or be it his own, Ichiru cannot find it in himself to ever confess to her his fears.
He cannot tell her about the ceiling, covered in the black ribbons with blood dripping heavily down to the floor. He can't tell her of the two twisted and contorted figures of his parents that hang from the ceiling.
He can't tell her of Zero, who just stands there, blood spattered across his neck staring. Ichiru cannot tell her about the shadow that rises up behind his brother, arms embracing his beloved and hated brother. He cannot tell her how claws extend and how Zero disappears in an explosion of blood that frightens Ichiru more than he can stand. He cannot tell her that the shadowy figure, is her and how when she approaches him in his dreams he's terrified and entranced.
Ichiru feels all wrong, insane and mixed up in his dreams.
But most of all, he's feels enraptured in the worse way. Caught between his hate of the woman before him, and his love.
Now older, and having stopped dreaming years ago Ichiru knows he loves Shizuka, and bitterly hates her at other times. Because she gave him what he wanted most, and sometimes he wonders if what he wanted most was really his parents death, his brother fated to a cursed existence.
He wonders who he would have been if he hadn't met her, fallen in love with her.
If his parents hadn't killed her love, if she'd never bitten Zero.
If his parents had never uttered the treacherous words that had truly poisoned him towards his only sibling.
So caught up in the web he and Shizuka have built Ichiru loses sight of the line between love and hate, and never bothers to look for it again.
Authors Note: Whatever, this idea has been floating around my head for days and I just needed to get it out. -sniffles and looks pitiful- Ugh, I'm so freakin' sick.
