A/N: I honestly wasn't going to post this, as you can tell by how much later this got put up after the rest of them. This is the John Winchester section for my friend's contest (which I didn't win) "It was the one thing he most coveted." So, this is John, without Mary, without his boys. The timeline is pretty much the same, but there's no demons in this universe.
Disclaimer: They shouldn't even let me play with their characters.
It was the one thing he most coveted. It wasn't fancy. Her engagement ring wasn't fancy either, but she had loved that so much.
She seemed to love everything -well, almost everything- he did for her.
He still wore it as a testament to being her soul mate. In memorial of how they had their ups and downs, but they always loved each other.
(Supernatural: Wedding Band)
The wedding wasn't as scary as he thought it was going to be. Proposing to her on the other hand… May 2, 1976 he got married, and she was so beautiful. And he was so happy. But proposing to her…God, he almost didn't, he was so scared. She wouldn't have just said "no," she would have broken his jaw for good measure. Which wouldn't be necessary, because a "no" would have killed him. Probably. But she didn't. She said yes, and she actually giggled, and then she started making plans immediately. He loved her so much, and missed her so much, and he never to off the ring just to remind himself that she loved him with all her heart. And that time with her was worth it. She was worth everything because he loves her still.
(Supernatural: Wedding Band)
He wore the wedding band until the day he died. She had been dead twenty-three years when he died. When he hoped to join her. He died in 2006. They hadn't been married very long when she died. Not long enough. They would have been married thirty years it she had lived. They hadn't even made it to ten years. They hadn't been married very log when she died on November 2, 1983, and they had nothing to show for it, except for a wedding band. Which he wore every single day of his life. He went crazy those part twenty-three years and he wasn't quite sane the twenty-two years prior to his marriage to the woman who gave him sanity. Without her, he was lost. He had nothing to keep living for except her memory. Nothing. It was the one thing he most coveted.
