A/N: A piece about Andromeda and Teddy just after Tonks and Remus' deaths. It took a different turn than I thought it would as I was writing, but I think it came out very well, if I do say so myself. I literally cried while writing it. Here are some things I would like to say:

1) pardon the unoriginal title, I wasn't sure what to call it.

2) get used to the angst. I write a lot of that.

3) I do not own Ted, or Andromeda, Teddy, Remus or Tonks, or anything else, sadly.

4) Please review, it means so much to me! I didn't think I had to say this, but apparently I do, seeing as people have not reviewed my other stories much at all... cough

5) for some reason, it's hard for me to picture Andromeda as a grandmother. I've always pictured her as a young person, so excuse me if she doesn't seem very grandmotherly.

Well, I hope you enjoy!

When Andromeda heard the news, there was first silence. Then, a shattered glass, and a sob.

Baby Teddy looked at his grandmother with wide eyes full of curiosity. His hair turned icy blue and, with a sour face, he began to wail, too. Of course, he didn't understand what was happening, but Grandmother was crying, so something must be terribly wrong.

Oh, the irony of it all.

"Dora had promised she'd come back! Promised!" Andromeda gasped and gripped the kitchen table. "Ted, Dora, Remus- everyone- oh, Teddy!" She placed her hands on the baby's cheeks and broke down again. "Teddy- oh, goodness, child..."

Teddy stared up at her; his hair turned purple. "Mum?" he inquired, and blinked slowly. "Mummy?"

"Your mum- mummy's... Mummy's gone away," Andromeda whispered with her hands holding Teddy's.

"Away?" Teddy said softly, repeating the word.

Andromeda nodded. "Away with the angels." Her eyes watered again, and she didn't bother to stifle the sob that came after.

"Angel," Teddy repeated airily in a sing-song voice, and though he couldn't quite understand, there seemed to be meaning in the tone of voice he used. One that gave a new life to the word, a new meaning, one all his own.

And when Teddy asked "Daddy?" Andromeda was able to smile sadly despite her tears, sniffle, and say "Daddy's an angel with Mummy. They're angels together now."

With Teddy's mumble of "'gether", his grandmother picked him up and held him tight to her side. "I won't lose you," she whispered, and rocked him back and forth gently, lulling him to sleep with her sobs. "I won't lose you."
