Summary: In semi vs. SUV…

He roared the SUV, lights flashing, siren sounding, to a stop in front of the semi. Starting to open the door, he looked up to see the larger truck was not slowing down and stopping as he'd planned, but instead was picking up speed. Abandoning the first plan of jumping out and yelling for him to stop, he turned and dove for the passenger side door, intending to scramble out the other side and make sure his vehicle got a lot more banged up then him. The semi plowed into the driver's side just as he reached the handle and the impact hurled him into the door and then out of it when the handle released under his grip. He rolled and bounced across the pavement, landing flat on his back a few feet away. He wondered groggily whether or not the ordeal had taken hours or seconds, but let the thought go when he realized everything hurt.

"Don!"

"Get on the ground now! Don't you move!"

"Agent down, we need a bus at…"

"What kind of plan was that again?"

Don managed to focus on Colby talking and Liz leaning down on his other side.

"Worked pretty good in my head," Don groaned, trying to sit up. Liz's hand on his shoulder kept him still.

Colby chuckled a little, keeping his tone light, "Aw, come on, that's almost as bad as the 'I saw it on TV' line."

Don laughed a little and tried to sit up again.

"Hey, stay still," Megan said, coming over, "Ambulance is on it's way, you're staying put until you get checked over."

"I'm fine," Don insisted twenty minutes later as the paramedic insisted he go in for x-rays, "Nothing's broken, I'm just banged up." The first ambulance had already left with Gwen, David had found her shortly after Don was hit, and Don insisted that she was much worse off and needed to go first. Not, apparently, that he intended to go second.

"Don," Megan had that warning tone, but Don got up anyway.

"Nothing to Charlie," he paused and eyed Megan, "Or my dad, or Larry or Amita." There, he was pretty sure he covered all the bases. He'd let them know later on, when there was nothing to worry about and the bruising had faded.

"Fine," Megan agreed, too easily for Don's liking. Colby, David and Liz all looked at her, but she merely smiled back, "Of course we need to respect our team leader's wishes." Oh yeah, Don thought, way too easy.

Don found out at dinner two nights later just what Megan had planned.

"So," Alan said calmly, "Millie asked me to tell you to get well soon. Something about a minor car accident?"

Oh, he would get Megan back for this. Big time.
