Starfire's face scrunched together as the smell of sanitizer and antiseptics filled through her nostrils. The medical bay at Titans Tower was one of the cleanest and sterile environments she had ever been in but the all too familiar scent brought back memories of unwanted needles and forced injections in her body. A wave of nausea and uneasiness made her pause her steps for a few moments, making her double guess coming into the room but she pulled herself together and remembered the task at hand.
It was 2:43 am.
The tower was quiet.
She was still in her pajamas.
And she had a job to do.
After retrieving the desired supplies from the cabinets, the alien girl quickly flew back to the bedroom shared with her boyfriend of one year and turned on the lights to see her lover tossing and turning with the sheets.
She quickly ran over to him, setting the supplies on the bed table besides her, and grabbed at the sheets that her boyfriend was now trapped under. His eyes were closed while making incoherent noises and moving around in the sheets.
Starfire grabbed his chin to hold his head still and placed the back of her hand against his cheek, "Oh Richard! You are heating up too much!" She made an upset noise and quickly glanced at the door.
She knew she should call Raven and Cyborg but he wouldn't want that.
Robin groaned and started clawing at the sheets wrapped around him, his temperature rising and Starfire quickly grabbed at the sheets to help remove them from off of him.
She hated seeing him like this.
During dinner, he was complaining about a mild headache and having no appetite before locking himself away in his office and she had found him an hour later, passed out at his desk, and shaking uncontrollably from being too cold.
All her instincts told her to get Raven or Cyborg, since both her friends are medically educated but she knew her leader/boyfriend hated feeling weak and vulnerable around people, especially when he was sick.
He shook again and the hot and cold flashes were coming back.
Starfire shook her head at him, "Richard I am going to get Raven and Cyborg."
His hand reached out for her and he tried to shake his head. "Nnn...nno...no."
She grabbed his hand and kissed the back of it. "I do not like seeing you like this and this is much more than off-the-counter medications can fix." She kissed his hand once more, "I shall get Raven and Cyborg and you will just have to be the big boy and deal with it."
The next morning, the bright sun peaked through the crack of the curtains and a strong arm wrapped itself around the sleeping girl next to him, waking her up in the process.
She turned towards him, eyes half lid, and a smile on her face, "You are awake? How are you feeling?"
He looked a lot better than he did the night before, the paleness in his face was almost gone, but he still had that sick look on his face. "A lot better thanks to you" he mumbled.
She kissed him on the nose before snuggling back into his chest, "Good now go back to sleep please."
"Thanks for not listening to me Star" he said, "And getting Raven and Cyborg to help."
"I love you" she mumbled sleepily.
"I love you too" he said.
