Her room was famillarily quiet, just the way she liked it when she needed the time to herself. The walls color radiating from the sunlight was seeping in through the glass window pane. It seemed all surreal to her, but she basked in it none the caught the scent of burning as her senses came to, thus causing her to jolt awake as well. Airalynn Marie Adams was nothing shy of smart, and she knew it, yet for an unknown reason she couldnt picture the cause of the burning. She descended down the hall, dark as it was,a familiar path to her. Her eyes adjusted fairly quickly as light from a living room candle illuminated her vision. " Jake! STOP!" The young girls heart beat faster at the words as she crossed to the kitchen part of the house.
Her mother lay upon the kitchen tile, backed up to a wall as her father drunkingly tried smoking in the house. Airalynn found the cause. Her father had succesfully light a cigarette and in doing so burnt the broom and began his walk to scar his mother, for the upmost tenth time. " No!Don't!" She heard the whining call of her voice as she realized she spoke without intending to do so. Her father, Jake, took out a antique revolver, she couldnt get a close enough look at it to tell the exact type as he fired it. She couldn't move, Airalynn felt like lead was holding her down, making her prepare for a sickening, maybe even fatal impact with the bullet. The whole deadly picturesque scene changed suddenly, winding down to nothing but blackness. The 14 year old felt an impact but not the one she braced herself for.
" You little good for nothing! You are just like your sister and your mother- worthless!" Airalynn peeked open her left eye, looking through the slit between her arm and face at the rest of the scene. She saw her older brother sprawled across the living room floor, her father kicking him with every word he spoke as if to emphasis the words. Soon the beating of James became to much as she watched her mother, dark burnt circles from the cigarette and abuse over every visiable part of her body, crawled almost lifelessly to her daughter. Crack! Airalynn winced as her father came to her limpless body next. He had broken a rib,she could tell. James then layed unconsious upon the now broken table. That was the last thing she saw.
