It started with a feeling deep within Brendan, somewhere Brendan had never realised he had. His heart exploded with flames of emotions. Raw emotions that Brendan had never experienced before. Love. Desire. Need. Such powerful emotions, that Brendan wasn't sure he liked. The more he thought about what he was feeling, who he was feeling it for, the more it sickened him. Now he was reaching a fever in the anticipation. He was coming out of the dark, coming out of the closet. It was now or never.
He grabbed Steven with all he was worth, ignoring the shocked faces of people around him. He pulled Steven close to him, feeling his body heat against his own, before crashing their lips together. He didn't care about what the others thought. What Cheryl or Mitzeee or even what Foxy thought. It was what Steven thought, but when he pulled away to look into his eyes, he finally saw it. He could finally see Steven crystal clear. The anger and fear in Stevens eyes. Worst of all: the hate.
Steven ran , leaving Brendan standing there. That's right, Steven ran, after Noah. After Brendan gave Steven everything he had asked for. After Brendan came out for him, Steven still left. But Brendan doesn't care, because he knows. Brendan knows that he has every piece of Steven, that Noah wants. Steven might not know it, but Brendan does. Steven has underestimated what hold Brendan had over him, what hold Brendan still has over him.
Of course Steven came back later. He always came back, and that is why Brendan hadn't worried. Once again the fever between the two of the arose. Heat and need took over them, dragging them out of the dark. Then Steven dared to do something that made him regret everything. He uttered those words; the words Brendan wanted to say but couldn't. He couldn't admit to those feelings. Those disgusting, wrong feelings. All of a sudden, the passion was lost and a new heat took over the Irishman. Anger enveloped him, anger at what this boy had turned him into. Brendan reacted to this the only way Brendan knew how.
Steven went straight back to Noah, as expected. Once again like a lap dog, running after Noah doing everything he wants in fear of Noah finding out the truth. Steven lied about the bruises, just like he had lied about the old ones. If everything Steven said was true, he would be one extremely clumsy human. But the scars of the love they shared was there to show on Stevens face, there for everyone to see. Every time Brendan saw Steven, those scars reminded him of the love; the passion; the heat. It reminded how close they came.
The scars of their love left Brendan breathless. Just when he had managed to take that next step forward, he had to counteract with two steps back. Brendan knew that if he had just ignored what Steven said, pretended he hadn't heard him, then nothing would of changed. But Steven had said it, and Brendan was remind of how disgusting it was. It wasn't Brendan's fault, not at all. It was Steven's. And now Steven was going to regret ever meeting Brendan. Because Steven has Brendan's heart whether he knows it or not. And without realising it, Steven played with Brendan's heart, mixing it up, damaging it beyond repair. Now tears are falling down Brendan's face, once again a new; unwanted emotion. Now, and only now Brendan realise just exactly how close they came. Together, they could of had it all. Now Brendan has nothing.
Yes, this is based on the song Rolling In The Deep by Adele. Thank you for reading and please review. Much love. x
