All was quiet in the forest. A gentle breeze stirred through the trees, other than that, not a sound was heard.
A soft thud dropped down on the leaves like a falling bird. These thuds fell in a rhythm, like the systematic swoop and fall of bird-song.
Two green eyes shone burning embers in the gloom, dully at first, then brighter and brighter. Two paws pushed their way forward; their colour was a milky white. A face pushed her way through the bracken. The she-cat slipped her way forward like a hunting tiger; her claws were drawn and her lips were bared in a growl.
The feline padded forward. Her fur rippled in the low light, her beautiful light brown markings showing up dimly.
The cat leaped forward. She swung her head round to meet the surprised blue gaze of a fellow feline. The shadow-stalker thrust her head forward and hissed "Dovewing."
The light grey cat stepped back in horror. She crouched down, body tensed. Dovewing murmured "T-Thrush-flight-t… what are you doing here? You were exiled!"
Thrushflight growled back "I know."
Slowly, Dovewing gulped and mewed "Then what are you doing here? Get out!"
Thrushflight just smirked. Dovewing gasped in horror as she spotted a tiny speck of blood clinging to Thrushflight's tooth. She slunk even lower into the ground, like a worm.
Thrushflight stepped forward menacingly, teeth bared, one paw forward. She muttered "Dovewing… hearing's not going to help much now, is it?"
Dovewing looked up frightened, claws out. She was obviously not going to go down without a fight.
Thrushflight leaped forward, one neat, graceful bound. She sunk her claws into Dovewing's slender neck, deeper, deeper, and deeper.
Dovewing gargled in pain. She thrashed fiercely, but Thrushflight kept digging her claws in.
Slicing her claws in one swift motion, Thrushflight ripped her claws across Dovewing's neck, killing the feline instantly.
Licking the blood from her paw, Thrushflight gazed down at her prey, bloodlust shining in her green eyes. Thrushflight stalked off, looking for her next victim.
