"Chase, this is all your fault! If you hadn't ran in front of me, the mission would've been a success!" Adam yelled. They had just returned to the island after a skirmish at a warehouse with Krane. The way he had revived was unknown to them, but it didn't matter. All they had to do was stop him, though Chase had ran in front of Adam to block him from Krane with a force field. The attack from Krane had picked up dust and blinded them as he escaped, thus causing the mission to be a failure. Chase flinched slightly as Adam raised his hand to hit him. After a deep breath, the hand was lowered. Chase took it as a sign of dismissal and they went separate ways. Chase walked out of the capsule room and towards the edge of the island. He sat down silently, pulling his feet up to his chest. Chase couldn't stand up to his brother anymore. Chase had never wanted Adam to be mad at him, after all, he had just wanted to protect him. After a few minutes, Adam joined him at the edge and dipped his feet in the water, remarking how wet it was.
"I'm sorry, Adam. If I hadn't blocked you, Krane wouldn't have gotten away." Chase muttered and pulled his knees closer to his chest.
"It's ok, little buddy. You must have a totally different view of the situation down there." Adam chuckled, slinging one of his arms over Chase's shoulders. Chase leaned into his brother's chest as a numbness spread over his body. Once he knew Chase was asleep, Krane deactivated the geocloak and brought the syringe down from Chase's neck.
Adam quickly paced over to Mr. Davenport near the hydra loop and monitors.
"Mr. Davenport, I can't find Chase anywhere." Adam reported as Bree ran up and said the same thing after she searched to whole school. Just then, Krane's ugly face popped up on the main monitor. Luckily, none of the students were there at the time to witness.
"It seems you aren't having much luck in your search. I think I may know where he is." Krane smirked as the video feed cut over to Chase wearing plain white clothes. He was laying on the floor in a room that looked similar to that of a dark abyss. No walls or any objects visible. Chase sat up and rubbed at his eyes as an invisible door opened up from into a white room. Adam walked through the door towards Chase.
"Woah! I'm in there and in here!" The Adam watching the video feed said, pointing to the fake Adam.
"Adam! Where are we?" Chase asked, standing up and walking to Adam. "Let's go!" He said and grabbed Adam's arm, trying to pull him into the bright room. Adam resisted and grabbed Chase's arm, flipping him over onto the ground. Chase sat up, rubbing his back. As Adam brought his leg up to stomp on Chase, Chase raised his hands to activate a force field. Before he realized it wouldn't appear, Adam smashed his foot down onto Chase's stomach. Chase coughed violently, gasping for air as the feed cut back to Krane.
"3 days. If he can't overcome the anti-bionic room and unlock his strongest hidden ability in 3 days, I'll have him killed. Then I'll repeat the process with the other children until it works." Krane stated and cut the feed, returning the monitor to the normal screensaver. Everyone froze in silence. Adam smashed a nearby chair before turning and leaving the room.
