Hey guys,
I know it's been a while, and I'm sorry. Lack of inspiration, I guess. Also, I got a review on one of my last Bade stories that got me thinking... "I liked this story, but you focused more on how Jade needs Beck, but not much on how Beck needs Jade. Maybe next time show the side of Beck that only Jade puts up with. However, the writing is great, and I can't wait to read what you put out next." That's a really good point. And I spent a looooong time trying to answer that question. Why does Beck need Jade? If you really sit down and try to figure it out, it's a real stumper. I still can't really figure out something about Beck that only Jade puts up with. Maybe we don't know enough about his character yet. It's super hard. Instead, I focused more on why he's stayed with her all these years, and why he puts up with her. I feel like I've done that already...but man, they're more intense to write than you think.
After a few months of hard thought and a ton of brainstorming, I think I put something together that somewhat covers it. I don't know if it sounds scatterbrained or not, or if it even makes sense. I'll just let you guys tell me, I guess.
"We all know why Jade needs Beck. But why does Beck need Jade?"
Love is something we can't control.
That's what Beck Oliver says anytime someone asks, "Why her?"
Sometimes, even she herself asks. "Why me?"
Love is something we can't control, and Beck Oliver loves Jade West.
/
He could love someone else. Hell, it would be so much easier to love someone else.
But he doesn't.
He could love Tori Vega, with her long chestnut hair, sweet personality, talent and charm, plus those beautiful cheekbones everyone seems to talk about.
He could love Cat Valentine, who never seems to get upset, can bring the house down at any karaoke party, who's cherry red hair brightens the room wherever she goes, and has the cutest giggle God has ever given.
But he doesn't.
Beck Oliver loves Jade West.
Jade West, the one with the eyes and nails painted dark as pitch, the sassy attitude, the ability to make guys like Sinjin run away with just a single word.
The girl with the combat boots and multicolored hair that stands out from the rest. The one who really doesn't seem to give a damn about anyone else.
So why her?
He could leave her. Beck knows anytime he wants, he can call it off, just up and leave her with a simple, "we're done."
So why doesn't he?
That girl with the combat boots is Beck Oliver's rock. She's a part of his life that no one else can replace, no matter how hard they try.
To others, that arrogance is mean, bitchy. To him, it's somewhat sexy.
And if he wasn't there, Beck knows that mean, arrogant girl who doesn't give a damn would fall apart. Beck can't bear to do that to the one he loves.
He knows she cares, even if it isn't shown often. Even when that dog ends up doing more harm than good and landing his own father in the hospital, he can't seem to do anything but love her more for it, because she tried. That's all Beck could ever ask for.
To others, all the punches, slaps, angry spats, awkward silences, I hate you's, and an aggressive dog doesn't mean love. To Beck, it's as good as life can get. Jade West may be a mystery, but she's the one Beck Oliver loves, and at the end of the day, he honestly can't see himself with anyone else.
Yeah, I know. Super short. But I have something else to tell you all.
How would you guys feel if I made a Bade story, like my Adison one? (And trust me, it would be a heck of a lot better than my Adison one. I think about deleting that s**t probably every day.)
Let me know - I already have some ideas sketched out. If you'd be interested in reading a longer Bade story, with ups and downs and all that stuff, I may go for it.
Laaataahh!
