Toothy Grin's Birthday.
Hello everyone,
It was meant to be a Christmas story but I didn't finish it in time.
It's set in December, it's a family moment, a Huddy and Hachel moment. For those who know me, you know I lke really like Hachel.
Thanks to my friend for the prompt.
Enjoy your Christmas's holidays.
All the best to you and to the world.
Toothy Grin's Birthday.
Rachel abandoned her drawing and felt pins and climbed on House's laps. She was happily talking to whomever was listening to her, while the conversation around them were going on nicely. House whispered something in her ear when he caught sight of Cuddy, who was coming back from the kitchen. Julia turned off the lights and grinning, walked back to her sit. Everyone around the table started to sing along Cuddy as she placed the black and white chocolate cake with six candles on it, in front of her daughter. When the song ended, Rachel blew out the candles and giggled as everyone congratulated her. She raised her head and looked at her mother with a huge smile on her face.
"Happy birthday, sweetheart."
She handed the knife to House and silently asked him to cut it into slices.
"Can I do it?" the little girl asked then, arching her neck to look into House's blue eyes.
"Isnâ it a wee dangerous, Toothy Grin?" he replied in his grumpy pirate voice.
"Ye help me, Captain of Rats!"
"Captain of Rats?"
Rachel chuckled and shrugged in her best House's impression.
"Well, who's the rats in the story? You and mum?"
"Me and mummy! And uncle Wilson and grandma and everyone!"
House shook his head slightly and everyone laughed at their quick exchange. Cuddy saw the phantom of a smile on his lips.
"Wha' about I do it 'n ye do th' service?"
"Aye cap'n!"
Cuddy removed the candles and House started cutting it. While observing House cutting the birthday's cake he's made for her, Rachel started counting how much people there were.
"… four, five and for Howse!" she giggled.
"There is one rat missing" Wilson observed with amusement.
"Aye me! Seven!"
Wilson stood with a bottle of champagne in hands. Rachel climbed of House's laps and came to stand by his side.
"Can you make it fly to the roof?"
Under the little girl's eyes, Wilson slowly pushed the cork. When he felt it was about to take off, he looked at the girl and smirked.
"Go, go!"
The cork took off in the most gigantic "pop" Rachel's ever heard before. She burst into laughter and clapped her hands. The guest smiled and laughed with her, amused by her energy and happiness. Only House remained silent and subconsciously looked at Cuddy. She was smiling from ear to ear and watching her daughter. The vision warmed his heart and made him smile.
Rachel was following Wilson jovially, carrying one plate at a time and coming back to House quickly once her duty accomplished.
"Ya reckon she deserves one?" House whispered, eyeing Arlene with suspicious eyes "or should she walk th' plank?"
Rachel giggled loudly and took the plate he was handing her. House smirked at Arlene and received a small nudge on his arm.
"What?" he asked innocently.
"Walk the plank, seriously?" Cuddy smiled, shaking her head.
"Any other funny torment in mind?"
"You're having fun, aren't you?"
His bright blue eyes melt into hers. He said nothing, just bent to kiss her on the lips. His lips lingered on hers for a short time in a soft caress. When they parted, Cuddy offered him a warm smile, touched by this rare gesture. She wasn't used to him kissing her with such tenderness in front of others. Possessive, he was, with no exceptions. Tender too, though only in their most private moments.
"Bon appétit" he said and gave her a plate.
"Grazie"
"You're welcome"
He smirked. She smiled.
