Disclaimer: I do not own Shingeki no Kyojin or Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne. I only own the bad idea of merging them.

Wispy clouds curled across the sky dimming the moonlight for a moment. It's quiet night, cold winds blowing up the cloak and hankerchief he wore to hide his identity. The moon was too bright, too, giving good illumination. But it didn't matter.

He wouldn't be dubbed a phantom thief if it did.

Mustering all the grace his enhanced powers brought he leapt onto a roof, back facing the light as he stared at the intended house (mansion). He could hear the hustle of the officers Mr. Hange brought with him, moving around with eyes trained outside. He and Zoe organized them well. He'd be in trouble were he a normal person.

"He's here!" One of the large windows opened and Zoe peered up, a hopeful grin on her face. Idiot.

"Get out of my way," Levi said.

And he aimed the hookshot and swung in.

PHANTOM THIEF RIVAILLE

The door opened with a bang, because Zoe was of course an invasive neighbor. And friend, but he'd rather not talk about it. Levi held the broom at her face before she could get a foot in.

"I just cleaned the floor yesterday."

"You clean the floor every day." She pouted. It did not last long. "We saw him again!"

"Of course you did." Levi lowered the broom when she stepped back outside, then grabbed his bag. He locked the door. "For like, what, the tenth time this month."

"I can't help it, he's intriguing," she said, eyes sparkling. Levi nearly shuddered imagining her talk about him like that. But she didn't know. And probably would never know, if things went his way. "A thief that doesn't steal? One who would fight on despite ten officers in one area? He's a curious case and I have to find answers for science, like who he is, why he does what he does and how."

Levi yawned. Zoe bumped his shoulder before pushing open the apartment door. Autumn wind rushed in, dragging its nails across his cheeks, but it did nothing to dispel his sleepiness. This was why he never liked consecutive nights. It was freaking tiring.

"What's with you anyway?" Zoe asked. "You've been half awake every morning for the past weeks."

"Your family is too loud after each visit from whatshisname. It's annoying." Before Zoe could reply someone bumped them from behind. Levi nodded his acknowledgement as the teen—man, really, he was so tall and mature—settled on his left.

"Morning," Erwin said. "Judging from Zoe's face, am I right to guess that Rivaille came again?"

Levi groaned as Zoe repeated her speech.

School dragged on, and so did track practice. It was one sport he liked, if it could be called one, because it didn't matter if he was 162 cm or 192, like that pole in basketball team. Football was fine, too. Levi was good at kicking, though he did not resort to violence often. Once he broke someone's nose when they bullied Zoe, but it was like when he was eight. It was how he got stuck with her. The universe was clearly saying that he should not be violent unless he wanted more Zoe-like creatures sticking around.

He pushed open the apartment door and checked the mail, expecting nothing. He was not disappointed. He didn't sigh as he got into the elevator, eyes half closed.

His eyes opened wide when he crashed onto something. It wasn't heavy—cardboard boxes, stacked like a skyscraper, toppled like a wall succumbing to a great force. Shit barely crossed his mind as they fell down. Things bumped around and he cursed the high heavens when a filled box hit his head. Who the hell stacked boxes that still had things in them? He tripped on an unmoving item behind him and this justified ten Zoes transferring into his class.

"Eren!" The voice was hysterical. "What did I say about stacking the boxes in the halls?" This Eren guy was on the top of his shit list. "It fell down on someone."

He could hear footsteps running closer as he took off a box that fell on his face. Soon they stopped and the boxes were moved away, gradually, with murmurs of Oh and So that's where it went disrupting the silence now and then. After several moments a calloused hand gripped his wrist. Levi growled when it tugged him out like a rag doll in a pile of filth. A brown haired guy grinned sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't think we had so many things and got dis—" Levi cut him off with a grunt. A black haired girl glared at him but a blond pulled her back to the task at hand. At least they were cleaning their mess up. Teens. They never knew the importance of orderliness.

"Just pick up your shit," Levi said and stalked off to his apartment. He was careful to shut the door with a quiet click. It prolonged the life of the hinges and Mrs. Hange was eager to know his secrets.

The spirit of the walls darted out from the living room, glowing bright. He let a small smile out as she flitted around. She rarely talked, but when she did, she had three voices echoing into one. Sometimes it gave him a headache, so she usually communicated with telepathy and series of clicks and squeaks.

It never was more than a form made of light. But it was company. Zoe was nice enough, and her family was welcoming, but despite years of half-living with them they still felt like an Other. They were, of course. They could never replace his parents. The spirit rubbed against his cheek and he sighed.

"Again?" The spirit nodded. "No." Levi went to the kitchen, and she followed, making indignant squeaks . He ignored her in favor of a light snack. "No. We did this yesterday. And the day before that."

A noise. "Too far." But he knew he'd do it anyway. It had to be done. Else They would be terrorizing humans. Subtly, yes, but Levi knew that subtle was the most devastating way to do so. Nothing scared people more than a spy amongst them, especially when it disguised itself in beautiful things like paintings.

And the Titans were certainly stupid spies. But their existence were the problem, not their intelligence. Their lack of it was a blessing, in fact. The people of the past must be really bad if they couldn't vanquish idiots.

Five meters tall ugly idiots, but still idiots.

"I am going to regret this tomorrow," he said, and decided that he'd just do laundry and dust today. He didn't like settling like that, but it had to be done. He was tired enough today. He needed a nap.

His mental plans were broken by short raps on the door, and Levi grunted as he pushed himself off the chair and trudged to open it. He never bothered his neighbors, they had no rights to bother him back. It couldn't be Zoe, because she'd just burst in. Then again, she once knocked and held a gun to his head, a terrifying mask on her head. He nearly punched her through the wall out of instincts.

The three brats from earlier—Eren and his two mystery siblings (Levi doubted they were all actual siblings. Unless one of his parents were a terrific womanizer. Or its female equivalent, whatever it might be) stood awkwardly, him holding up a plate covered by a tissue. The blond nudged him and he straightened, looking like a soldier in a drill.

"We wanted to apologize for earlier," he said, not a stutter. He just sounded like he was about to shit after several hours of holding it in. "We didn't have much to offer, but here." He shoved the plate at him.

Levi stared, unimpressed.

"Thank you," he said, and they sighed in relief. "Good bye." He closed the door.

When he peeked at the content of the plate it was an arrangement of pastries, store bought, but they looked edible, if not delicious. He certainly had no qualms for getting things he'd never afford.

He should look for a job. But this whole killing Titans thing took too much of his time. He'd never get one until he was through with this. Sitting on the kitchen chair, Levi took one of the croissants and nibbled it, eyes closing. Delicious. Still warm, too. He smiled.

"We figured out the location!" Levi sighed.

I will be there tonight.

A/N: Rewritten!

So like, I rediscovered the Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne comics after months of separation from my books. Then I decided that this sorely needed the revision. With more coherent idea in my head, of course. Apologies that this is only a revamp, but it's an important one. Chapter 2 will be soon on its way.

New cover on the way, too, but it might take a while since I'm moving and the house is halfway done and I need to install my scanner. Joy.
