Rain, rain, don't go away ShikaTema Oneshot
"You have got to be kidding me!"
Temari had been waiting patiently at the bus stop for the bus with her school bags in hand when, out of no where, it started to pour rain.
"Why in the world isn't this covered?" she growled to herself. Any other bus stop had a bench that's covered with shelter that would protect the waiting person from the elements, but not this one. Never the one she had to wait at to go home, though. She's not that lucky.
Cursing to the heavens above, the blonde held one of her school bags over her head for cover. It didn't do much; she was still getting wet.
"What a perfect day to forget an umbrella, don't you think?"
"Wha?" Temari looked to the source of the voice. She recognized the male as the super smart, lazy, and sarcastic sophomore in her AP class. "Oh, yeah. Lucky you, though," she sneered. "You have an umbrella."
He walked over to her and held the umbrella over her head.
"You're welcome."
She was speechless. How nice of him.
"Uh, thank you…" Temari bit her lip. She couldn't remember his name.
Clearly he could tell because he chuckled then aided her once again. "Shikamaru Nara."
"Okay," she said. "Thanks, Shikamaru. I'm –"
"Temari Subaku," he interrupted. "I know."
She scowled, muttering to herself, "Know it all."
"No, just observant."
The blonde sighed and looked to Shikamaru. "You're getting wet."
"No, really? Haven't noticed."
She ignored his sarcastic comment. "Get under the umbrella."
"I'm fine," he shrugged. "You use it."
"No, get under here."
"It's fine. Better for a man to get wet than a woman anyway."
"Chivalry is dead," she growled as she pulled him by the collar under the umbrella. "Now stay."
Shikamaru frowned. "Troublesome woman."
Temari grinned, knowing she had won.
A moment of silence passed between them.
"So why didn't you leave long before you came down here?" she asked. Shikamaru looked to her as he raised an eyebrow. She continued. "School got out at least twenty minutes before you came. Everyone else left before now."
"I had a quick detention," he informed her. "It lasted for ten minutes, then I got my stuff, looked out the window and saw you."
"And?" she asked.
"It looked like it was going to rain, so I brought you an umbrella." He smiled softly. "Couldn't let such a pretty girl stand out in the rain."
Temari blushed. "Oh."
"Look," Shikamaru said, pointing at something. Temari followed his finger. "The bus is coming."
Temari smiled and looked to him. "You know what. I think I'll walk. Now, which way you heading?"
