"Truth or dare?" Adam asked Clare. Ms. Dawes was absent, and the sub had given the class free time.
"Adam, I don't have time for this," she scribbled in her notebook. She needed to get this article done for Katie. The boy sighed and rolled his blue eyes.
"C'monnnn, truth or dare?"
"Truth."
Adam raked his brain for something to ask; he looked around the room, hoping something would give him enough inspiration for a question. Eli had dark circles under his eyes from the sleepless nights were he would stay up and dream about Clare. Sitting next to her in this class wasn't helping, but it wasn't like Ms. Dawes would change their seats with 2 weeks left in the year.
"If you could change on thing, what would it be?" Adam asked.
So many thoughts went through Eli's head. Him and Clare would still be together. He wouldn't be crazy. The whole thing with Julia wouldn't have happened—
"You would let me finish this article in peace," Clare joked, smiling at her friend. Adam huffed, turning to Eli.
"Truth or dare?"
Eli thought for a moment, and then decided on dare.
Adam looked between his two best friends for a moment, and then a smile came across his face. "I dare you to tell Clare that you still love her."
Eli's head snapped towardsAdams', giving him a harsh look. Clare looked at him in shock, her blue eyes wide. "I'm not doing that," Eli snapped.
"Fine, then by default you pick truth: do you still love her?"
Clare peaked at Eli from behind her lashes, a quick glance before she looked down at her desk again. Eli unclenched his jaw long enough for a simple answer to leave his lips.
"Yes."
Adam smiled, and then turned to Clare. "Truth or dare?"
"Dare," she squeaked, biting her lip. Adam smiled mischievously, and she knew she was in trouble.
"I dare you to kiss Eli," Adam spoke, and his friends froze in shock. Clare was never one to back down on a dare, but this might've been too much. She wanted to–oh, she wanted to kiss him so bad—but if she did, she wasn't sure she could control herself. She glanced at Adam, silently begging him to call it off, but he only raised his eyebrows; a challenge. So without thinking, she leaned over the table and crashed her lips onto Eli's.
And from that second on, they felt complete bliss.
Eli got over his state of shock and touched Clare's cheek gently, not able to believe he was getting the chance to do this again. Clare's lips were on his, kissing him, and suddenly, everything was okay. Sure, he was a little screwed up in the head. He had some things to work out, stuff to get over, but he could do it. With Clare by his side, he could do anything.
"Uh, guys, I said kiss, not make out," Adam stated, but Clare and Eli simply smiled into the kiss, their tongues dancing with each other Adam huffed. "Great, I'm back to being a third wheel," but they could hear the smile in his voice. The bell rang suddenly, and the two teenagers pulled apart, grinning and blushing at each other.
Adam poked both of them on the shoulder before leaving. He called over his shoulder, "You're welcome!"
...Yeah.
