Prologue

The darkness of night covered the area, and all but two slumbered. These two were walking up to a house, carrying a baby carrier. As they passed the street lamps, you could see that the one was a man, wearing the oddest striped shirt and suit, with a bow tie of all things! The woman, on the other hand, stayed out of the light, so it was not possible to see what she looked like.
"You are being paranoid!" the man whispered to the woman.
She replied, "And you are not being paranoid enough. Just trying to balance out." She indicated the carrier. "I still don't understand why we can't take him with us!"
"I have already explained this. Any children I meet seem to have exceptionally bad luck." he whispered. "I just don't want him to suffer the same fate." A muffled crackling is heard in the distance, but neither notice it.
With this, they approached the house, and set the baby carrier down on the doorstep. The woman looked down at the carrier and the child within, suddenly feeling quite sad. The man knocked on the door several times, then they both walked back in the direction that they had come from. As the man passed under a street lamp, we can see that he is now wearing a fez.

The door of the house that they had been knocking on opened, and a sleepy man stepped out. He looked at the baby carrier, still not fully awake. However, he, like the rest of the community, was fully awoken by the sound of a loud-ish explosion, much like a gunshot.

Disclaimer: Doctor Who belongs to the BBC, not me. I am not making any money off of this work of fanfiction.

So, my second fanfic. Sorry this chapter was so short. Constructive criticism welcome, but please, no flaming.

P.S.-For more info on the crackling energy, see my other fanfic, Captain Jack and the Time Ring, second chapter. It will be up soon, I promise.
