The Other Side: Prelude
Author's Note: Hello everyone and welcome to the prelude of The Other Side. For anyone who has read my stories before, I am sorry for the long wait as I was waiting for the Naruto series to end so I could remain partially true to the it is still possible for more of the timeline to come out, enough has been exposed so that I can finally write this. I hope you enjoy!
Blood. Blood was the only thing the last ninja could see beyond his comrades bodies. His enemy was no where to be seen and he was sure none of his fellow ninja had seen anything either before they died. All they may have seen was a blur of motion and heard the deafening growl of an angry beast as it tore them apart. Though nothing could be seen of the beast, the low rumble coming from its throat made its existence clear. He knew he should run back to his village, but deep-seated fear kept him in one place. He instead examined his surroundings and found that there were no places to hide. This area was one that the Ten-Tailed Beast had fired at in the Third Ninja War, obliterating everything in its radius.
"Where are you hiding you monster?!" he yelled with a quiver in his voice. His hands shook as he took out a kunai and held it at the ready. Though he was a Chunnin and a ninja who made it through the war, he had never seen, much less heard about an enemy that could attack physically without being seen. The only way he knew that it had attacked physically was because every time, right before of his allies fell dead, he would hear the snarling become louder then dissipate into the distance.
He was snapped out of his thoughts when the growl became noticeably louder. He froze. Sweat dripped down his face and onto the ashen dirt beneath his feet. He began panting as the guttural noise became louder. He looked down at his comrades bodies to look for a pattern in the attacks. All his saw were bite marks where chunks of flesh were ripped out and all of their throats were still bleeding out. It then made a sound as if it had opened its maw, a low roar emitted into the black sink hole. He dropped his kunai and tried running, but it was too late.
The beast was upon him. The last thing he saw was the silhouette of a wolf with its back facing him, sitting up tall with its tail on the ground behind it.
A howl resonated across the dark night sky.
Author's Note: I know this sounds kind of violent, but trust me, the whole story is NOT like this. All this is, is a preview to what our heroes will be facing. Hope you'll come back for another look into my story!
