PROLOGUE

Eli smiled up at the sun he hadn't seen in months. The planet they had stopped on was very much like Earth. Minus all the buildings. Though the planet was at least three times smaller than Earth it had a larger land mass. Instead of being 3/4 water it was only 2/5 water.

Eli stood up and walked out into a clearing. The whole of the ship was here. Everybody. Well everyone except Dr. Rush.... He had refused to come down to the planet. Rush said that he was making repairs, but Colonel Young didn't trust him.

Colonel Young, Lieutenant Matthew Scott and Lieutenant Tamara Johnson were all out in the clearing as well. They were talking, but Eli couldn't hear what their conversation was about.
He walked in the direction of the food. He hadn't eaten since mid yesterday, and he was starving. Over at the food storage Eli saw Chloe, and Lisa Park. They were talking as well, but Eli knew that they were discussing something entirely different to that of Young, Scott, and Johnson.

He walked up to them and smiled. "Good morning ladies" he said. Chloe smiled at him. "Hello Eli, did you sleep well?" she smelled like strawberries. They had camped out near a waterfall, and Rush had shown them how to make shampoo. "Yeah, though I heard a loud bang in the middle of the night, otherwise it was good. What about you Chloe?" He picked up an apple from the bag.

Chloe shrugged. "It was alright, though I kept waking up as this one-" she pointed to Lisa "-snores like a lion" She laughed. Lisa and Eli laughed with her and they continued chatting for another half hour. At least until Colonel Young called an urgent meeting.

(Young's POV)

They stood before me, all of them with happiness evident on their faces. Now, more than ever, I really wished I didn't have to be the bearer of bad news. Lieutenants Johnson and Scott were standing beside me. They wore sad expressions. "Are you sure you don't want me too sir?" asked Scott. I shook my head. "It has to be me..."

"I am afraid.....that I have some terrible news to bring to your attention" I started. Everyone stopped smiling. "It has come to our attention, that the Destiny is no longer in orbit above this planet" Gasps and sighs, filled my ears. "It appears as if Rush, has abandoned us. Though we cannot be so quick to judge, it may have been a Mechanical failure, either way, it is no longer here." I stopped.

"What do we do?" asked Eli.

"How can we leave?" Asked Camile Wray.

"RUSH IS DEAD!" Stated Greer.

I had to settle them. "We mustn't give up, I am sure together we can find a way out of this, we just need-". I stopped, Eli had come racing towards me.

"Sir, you won't believe me, but I sent a Keno out this morning to find and machinery that we might have missed in our initial scans.... And it did. There is an outcropping not far from here that is radiating huge amounts of energy." He finished.

I looked at the two beside me. "Suit up, be ready to go in half an hour, Eli, you and Vanessa go with them, I want a full report on what you find". The four of them disappeared out of the clearing. I looked at Greer. "Greer, I want you on this too, if there is something dangerous out there, I want it gone". He nodded and followed the others.
