Okay, so I was feeling lonely, and needed to vent. And being obsessed with Ice Age as I am at the moment, who better to do so through than Sid? Not sure how great this turned out, but hopefully I'll have the motivation to continue it, and maybe improve this part tomorrow.

Disclaimer:I do not own Ice Age, otherwise Diego and Sid would be together, or there would at least be more cute scenes of the two.

Sid's head spun, the world slowly shifting from a forest to one tree. A low moan escaped the sloth's throat, his clawed hands pushing against the powdery snow to raise himself to a sitting position.

The tree split into many and danced in his vision. A low whimper escaped the sloths throat, his eyes shutting against the dizzying world.

"I just have to retrace my steps,"

Sid theorized out loud, slowly reopening his eyes and looking about the snow covered ground. His stomach dropped as he took in the spattering of red by where he had awoken.

"I guess that explains why my head hurts so much..."

His eyes darted wildly about him. He had no recollection of how he'd gotten here. His family had left him behind again... hadn't they. A frown creased his face. They did that almost every year.

There was something else he should be remembering. Or was it someone. He shook his head, re-directing his thoughts to scouring the ground around him.

Eventually he raised his gaze. A cliff towered above him, it's ledge appearing as distant as the sky to Sid. "So...," the gears in his muddled brain turned slowly.

"How did I end up falling from there?"

Shaking his head, the sloth decided he was more grateful he'd survived the fall than he was curious about its cause.

Fidgeting, he debated whether or not to scale the slope, or head out onto the flats. Going up would no doubt be difficult, not to mention he suspected unfriendly mammals had been the cause of his fall in the first place and he'd rather not encounter them again.

His family had left anyway, he couldn't think of a reason he should return to where he'd come.

"You know I think this'll be nice," he tried to reassure himself as doubts began to nag at the back of his mind.

"Wide open plains, plenty of plants to eat, and not many places for predators to hide. Great place for a bachelor like me to be."

He paused, glancing around at the abandoned landscape.

"Alone."

His head fell, feet kicking at the ground.

"Always alone."
