This is a belated...very belated giftfic for NeoMiniTails! For being awesome and for a belated birthday gift! I am so sorry it took so long! I had no idea it was your birthday before and I had writers block on it for the longest time. :/
But I tried my best. I hope you like it, Neo. :)
Enjoy!
It was a quiet night. They had found a empty house they could stay in for the night. Yuki still was shaken by what had happened earlier with his friends. He had to get out into fresh air, to be near something comforting. The cool air and sky could do that for him.
Yuki leaned his head back against the wall, staring up at the sky thoughtfully. He loved the stars. They were so beautiful. Twinkling freely, not a care in the world, and shining so bright. It was almost a puzzle to break. A code yet to be solved. But not anymore...
"Yuki..."
He tilted his head to his left, glancing at the pink haired girl who was standing timidly on stairs, staring at him. "Hey Yuno."
Yuno took a cautious step forward, asking shyly, "What are you doing out here so late, Yuki?"
He stared at her in partial disbelief. This girl could kill without a single thought of regret, she could walk up to him and kiss him, and she was completely crazy. She was being shy to him now? He would never understand her. He turned back to the night sky as he replied. "I wanted to see the sky." He noted sadly to himself that he didn't say stars... he said the sky. The stars were no more. Would his dream ever come true?
She simply said, "Oh..."
He listened as Yuno moved to sit beside him, she shifted and laid her head on his shoulder. He forced himself not to stiffen up at the unexpected touch. Sure he had gotten used to Yuno being close to him but it still unnerved him. He lowered his head with a blush. She was still a girl and he was not good with girls. Out of all the girls in his class, trust him to get the serial killing maniac one. Not exactly what he had in mind for his future but then again... He took a quick glance around at all the destroyed buildings and chaos there was. He never planned any of this. It just happened. Yuno's quiet voice broke into his thoughts. "Yuki...the stars look different."
His heart twisted painfully at those words. The sky did look different. It was because of all the dirt, pollution and destruction that had taken place in the city. It had clouded up the sky. Not only had he killed people but he probably destroyed the sky as well. The beautiful sky that he loved. The stars weren't the same anymore. They were tainted with blood. Blood of the people he had killed. It was horrible.
He would become god and fix it though. Bring back everything. His parents, his friends, the sky, and Yuno.
He smiled gently at the girl who had curled against him and had fallen asleep on his lap. He couldn't kill her, he just couldn't. Lifting up a shaky hand, he slowly stroked her hair, being very careful not to awaken her. Her hair and eyes had always been what drew him to her the most. So beautiful.
Everything would work out in the end, he would make sure of it. Leaning down, he pressed a kiss to Yuno's forehead, he whispered softly. "I will bring them back. Then we will see the real stars." He closed his eyes, relaxing his body to fall asleep. It was going to be a long day tomorrow.
But if he had looked down, he would have seen Yuno frowning at what she had just heard. She listened to his breathing to make sure he had fallen sleep. Her bright pink eyes opened slowly, she slid her hand down to the top of her skirt to ensure herself that it was still there. A knife hidden in the waistband of her skirt. After finding it she ran her fingertips gently down the sharp edge.
When did anything ever come true?
