This one-shot is between Caroline and Klaus set in 3x14 , it is a scene that I think we should have witnessed in the show. Klaus asking Caroline to dance.

"So if you could all find yourselves a partner and please join us in the ballroom." Elijah finished his speech and the original family made their way down the grand staircase all except Esther and Finn. The room became filled with voices, people asking their chosen partners to dance, the original hybrid Klaus scanned the crowd with his aquamarine eyes looking for a certain blonde vampire whom he'd made promise would save him a dance.

He located her quickly standing to the side of the ballroom looking on sourly as his own dear sister lead the quarterback Matt Donovan onto the floor. He approached her with easy grace and smiled in wicked delight when her eyes widened at the sight of him. Her surprise changed quickly to irritation as she held herself straighter and glared into his eyes "what do you want Klaus?" She snapped crossing her arms defiantly.

Klaus laughed softly loving the way her eyes sparkled in anger; he loved her fire and the fact that she didn't seem afraid of him. He held out his arm waiting for her to place her hand in his, when she didn't he smirked; tilting his head to the side he said "I believe you owe me a dance love."

Caroline scoffed and shook her head at the obnoxious hybrid "You don't give up do you?" she asked her voice softer this time as she remembered the bracelet he'd given her and the stunning dress she was wearing now.

"Come along Caroline, one dance won't kill you, give me a chance …I dare you." He whispered at the end. A challenge burned in his eyes turning them a stormy blue, Caroline Forbes never backed down from a challenge so she placed her hand in his and smiled when he hooked her arm around his gently, he was always gentle with her. They arrived on the dance floor just as the song began.

Please review if you feel so inclined, no nasty comments please, this is only my second fiction for the vampire diaries and the first time I have wrote Klaus and Caroline.
