At a retirement home near Downtown City Jerry was sitting all nice and cozy in his small rocking chair. To his left is his owner, Larry, who was sleeping peacefully. Suddenly, there was a knock on the window. He looked out and saw a light orange female groundhog on the windowsill. He got up from his rocking chair and went to the window and opened it.
"Bella," said Jerry, "what are you doing here?"
"It's time," said the female hedgehog happily.
"For what, a snack?" asked Jerry humorously.
Amused, Bella showed Jerry her big stomach. It would seem that she is pregnant. To prove that, there was liquid coming from her legs.
Jerry gave a look of both realization and fright.
"Oh my quils!" exclaimed Jerry, "The little guy's coming now?!"
"Apparently," shrugged Bella.
"Well, come in here!"
Jerry carried his wife into Larry's room and brought her to his closet nearby.
Pretty soon, Bella was wrapped in a towel and was given warm water and a pillow.
"Thank you, Jerry," said Bella, "you wouldn't believe how hard it is to stay pregnant without the slightest bit of comfort."
"Hey, it's the least I could do for my prickly cutie."
Bella blushed at his flirtatious compliment.
Suddenly, Bella began gasping for breath as she pushed on her stomach hard.
"Come on, come on!" Jerry prayed.
A sudden baby cry filled the room. Jerry went over a picked up a male hedgehog who is both light and dark orange.
"It's a boy!" Jerry exclaimed happily as he gave the baby to Bella.
"Oh, he's precious." said a chocked up Bella, "Let's call him 'Russell'."
"Really?" asked Jerry, "Can't we call him 'Rustyh' for short?"
"You call him 'Rusty', I call him 'Russell'." said Bella firmly.
"Fair." Jerry gave in.
The parents looked at their new miracle of life in awe and wonder.
