Songs of The Day:
Annie's Song by John Denver
The day had started off so well. Ted and Dean had just returned from watering the local bushes in The Forest of Dean around seven in the morning ("It's okay, place is named after you, we can piss wherever we want, right?") to join the rest of the Azkaban escapees, who were still shaken but still alive, at the very least. Even The Goblins seemed to be in a good mood. The Goblin Liberation Front's plan to sack Azkaban had gone off without a hitch, with Caradoc and Sturgis promising to return with Order protection soon.
And then their scout returned, staggering forward purposefully, even though his leg was broken. He looked a lot like Dirk Cresswell, except his arm was missing and ugly wounds covered his body. Before his heart stopped, he whispered one last word:
"Run."
...
"Dean! Get outta here, ya gotta go, I'll hold them off as long as I can…"
"No, Ted, no, you gotta come with me, don't do this…"
"Dean, my goose is cooked. Those bastards got Dirk, but they won't get you. You get outta here NOW. Okay? You survive this, go to Seamus and tell him how much you love him. Don't make my mistakes, kid, when you find your person you never let go."
"I-okay. Geez, I can't believe a year ago I was upset about high school bullshit, now this..."
"And when you have kids, name one of 'em Hal. For me. Don't gimme that face, name has a lotta meaning to me. Now am-scray, okay?"
"Okay. Ted?"
"Yeah?"
"You're not gonna sing, are you?"
"Maybe. Dean?"
"Yeah?"
"Even though this year has been pretty godawful, I'm glad I got to meet you, brother. You're a great kid, never let any of these wannabe Nazis tell you any different. Now make like a chandelier and seeya!"
"You got it, old man."
With that Dean took a deep breath and ran as fast as he could, knowing if he looked back for even a second he wouldn't have the courage to continue on.
"Nymphadora is very lucky to have a father like you."
"Thunderin' typhoons, Luna, how many times I gotta tell ya, don't sneak up on people! Awwww, I can't stay mad at you, you're a good kid, too. Now git!"
With that Ted took a deep breath and looked down at The Snatchers.
"HEY, DICKHEADS!" He bellowed. "YOU BOYS ARE NOTHIN' TO ME, YA'HEAR? NOTHIN'!"
With that Ted sent out a torrent of flame that torched most of the Snatchers and Death Eaters below. The Final Stand of Edward Theodore Tonks had begun.
