You!

Robert Goren

You finally did it

You finally did it! You moved to the Big Apple. Family, Friends and Co-Workers said you were crazy, but your here. You got the inter-ship of your dreams, working with Dr. Randolph at Hudson University. You're living in Brooklyn in your own apartment, its not 5th Avenue, but it's what you can afford. You can't wait to get out and see the city, but you been busy all week working learning the subway schedule to and from work. You been getting to work at 6am and getting home at 8pm. No time to do anything. So now it's finally Saturday and what are you doing, sitting in the basement of your apartment building, washing your dirty clothes, reading Cosmo.

"The New York Life, yeah right" you say out loud, sitting alone in the basement, waiting for you clothes to wash.

You hear someone walking down the stairs, you haven't had time to meet any of your neighbors since you been here.

Then you see this huge man walk in, salt and pepper hair, scruffy, like he hasn't shaved in 24 hours, black t-shirt and jeans, looks like he just rolled out of bed, hair is a mess, wow he looks fantastic. How tall is he, 6'4? 6'5'? You tell you're self to stop staring; you make your self look down at your magazine. But keep sneaking a peak to look at him. He puts his clothes in the machine next to yours. Then he looks around, like he lost something, then he turns and looks right at you.

"Uh, excuse me, miss," he says.

You're just about fall out of your seat. But try to act cool.

"Uh, Yes?"

"I forgot the detergent, can I, Uh, borrow some of yours," he said, looking down at his feet, shyly.

Oh how cute, you just melt. "Oh, of course, it's on top of the machine, help yourself."

"Thanks," he says.

"You're welcome,"

You go back to trying to pretend your reading your magazine. He sits only leaving one open chair between you two. You take a deep breath through your nose, "Oh my God he smells sooo good," you think.

You decide to make the first move.

"Hi, I am new in the building, I moved in 6C, Nice to meet you,"

"Oh, I am Robert Goren; I live in 7C, Nice to meet you too,"

"Oh you're on top of me," you blush realizing what you said.

He smiles "Technically yes"

"You're the cop the super told me about?"

"Yeah,"

Oh well that went great, back to your magazine. Time to put clothes in the dryer. Another 20min in silence pass.

"What do you do?" he asked.

"Huh, oh, I am interning with Dr. Randolph at Hudson, he is a clinical psychiatrist,"

"So you're going to be a psychiatrist?" he asked.

"Hopefully someday," you smile.

Silence

Your clothes are finished, so you put them in your basket and prepare to leave.

"Well nice talking to you," you say.

You're walking toward the stairs.

"Do you like Italian food?" he asks.

"Yes, I do,"

"I know this great Italian restaurant; would you like to go with me tonight?"

You want to say hell yeah, but you respond, "Yes, that would be nice,"

"I will pick you up at 7, maybe you can tell me about that article you been reading for the last 2 hours, on page 225," he said with a chuckle.

"Uh, ok, see you later,"

You walk up to your apartment. You put down your basket you notice on the front cover of your Cosmo, " 5 Things to do to a man in bed to drive him crazy" you turn to page 225 that was the page you had your Cosmo open to the whole time. Now you really turn red.
