The police 'do not cross' tape had confirmed her suspicions; the Doctor had been here. Had. But he didn't like to stay to clear up, too many questions, too busy jetting off to save somewhere else. Because that's what he did, her Doctor keeping the Universe safe...Without her.
She was staring over the barriers, wondering where he was now, who he was with, basically him, when a woman's voice jerked her out of her thoughts. "Excuse me,"
She turned towards the woman, taking in her gingery brown hair and determined features. The woman was smiling, obviously in a rush, as she gabbled to her with immense speed.
"There's gonna be a woman come round here in, ooh, five minutes," The woman gasped breathlessly. "Tall, blonde hair, just, please, could you tell her 'that bin'?" The woman pointed at a nearby bin, and then ran off, a grin still plastered on her face.
She turned back to the police scene, taking in a final glance of what could have been an alien invasion, and then turned away, her mouth clamped shut with disappointment and sadness. She'd missed him. Again.
Trying to dispel the thoughts that she would never find him, she walked down the empty street, her body fading into nothing, like the memory of her ever being there. Because she was Rose and that was what she did.
