OVER THE EDGE IS WHERE THE ADVENTURE REALLY BEGINS
Disclaimer: I do not own these characters. They are the property of C.S Lewis. This is the story of when Reepicheep went over the edge of the world at the end of "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader".
It was a long way down. He could tell. Although small as he was most things seemed bigger of longer to him. Even though Reepicheep was bigger than most mice. For one last time he saw his friends whom he was leaving behind. He saw Queen Lucy crying. It was a sight he hated to see. He hadn't liked it when she had stroked his fur, but now all he wanted was the company of his friends.
Them it started. He went down and down and down. For once, all though if you asked him he would never admit it, he was frightened. The worse thing about it was his tail was flying around in the most undignified manor. This he hated, for as everyone in Narnia knows a mouse's tail is its greatest honor.
All around him the water was different colors. It was like looking into a prism. He also noticed that the water got sweeter as he went down. He also thought he saw a lion's head. The loin's head. Aslan. He could never tell for sure though.
As time went on he wondered if there was a bottom, or if he would keep falling forever. Reepicheep would not show fear though. How could reach Aslan's country and act like a coward. It would be a disgrace. His black fur stood up on end at the thought of it. He checked to see if his feather was still in the gold circle around his head, he also checked to make sure his sword was still in its hilt.
He wasn't nervous any more. He was ready to embrace the adventure ahead. He could see something greenish as he went further down. As he did so he got a feeling of hope and happiness. It was as though all the happiness he had ever felt wasn't a fraction of this happiness. I don't think that anyone had been that happy before since the beginning of the world.
Then oh what joy he felt when he reached the bottom. It was complete and utter joy. Unfortunately he wasn't sure where he was. He had high hopes for where he might be though. Then something wonderful happened. It was the lion, Aslan. He was standing there. The mouse nearly fainted.
"Welcome Reepicheep to my country. Your bravery will always be remembered in Narnia. Come little one" said Aslan.
So Reepicheep reached Aslan's country. And there he will stay till that world ends.
