Expect the Unexpected

Last Day Blues

"Ugh. The last day of my sophomore year. Oh my gosh. Today's the talent show!" Bella said to herself as she was getting ready for her last day of school. She was excited for summer but at the same time, she didn't want to leave her best friends behind when she moved to Washington.

"Bella! You'd better get going!" yelled Bella's mom. Bella was already halfway out the door when her mom came over and stopped her.

"Good luck in the Talent Show. You know that there will be talent scouts there, right?" said Bella's mom.

"Yeah…but that still doesn't mean anything! I'm still going to have to live with Charlie in Forks! Goodbye!" Bella yelled as she slammed the door. On her way to school, she started to think about what it would be like to live in Washington. It was so much warmer here, and Washington would be wet and rainy.

As she sat through her short, 10-minute classes, her eyes began to tear up. She couldn't believe that she had to leave all of this behind. Suddenly, her best guy friend and talent show partner, Raymond, came up to her and embraced her in a tight hug.

"What's wrong? You should be happy! It's almost summer and we can hang out like every day!" he said, trying to make her feel better. She started crying even harder.

"No, we can't. I'm moving to Washington in July! But what makes me even more agitated is that I can't pursue my dream with you! What about our band?" she sobbed as she went in for another hug. She needed his comfort now more than ever, especially before the talent show. She took a deep breath and stopped crying.

"Thanks Ray. You really know how to make a girl feel better," she said to Raymond.

"Well I hope this makes you feel even better." He said quietly as he leaned in to kiss me. Just as his lips were about to touch mine, the intercom went on, calling for all talent show participants to report to the auditorium. He stood up and kissed me on the cheek instead.

"Let's go. We have to warm up. We'll finish that later," he said with a smile, and we walked down to the auditorium.
