The sounds of laughter.
The flirtatious touches.
The quite squeals of excitement.
Chandler heard it nearly every night as Joey bought the next date home for some 'Joey' time. Chandler always found it a little painful and if not painful a total turn on, until he remember it was his best friend in the other room. Through the hundreds of dates and endless giggles and touches Chandler had always just lay awake thinking, pondering, wishing and hoping that sooner or later it would stop and he could sleep.
Tonight however, was different. Chandler was fed up, his day had been a series of unfortunate events and this for Chandler was the cherry on top.
He wanted the:
The sounds of laughter.
The flirtatious touches.
The quite squeals of excitement.
The feeling was irreplaceable and Chandler hadn't had the feeling in months, in almost a year and even then it wasn't something that stayed with him. It wasn't love. Chandler wanted love. He knew Joey had never had the 'love'. Joey was all about the job at hand and for many years Chandler had gone in with that mentality too, probably a little more subtly though. However Chandler was feeling a change in himself. He didn't understand it and wasn't sure if he wanted too but something in him was trying to get him out of his chair and telling him to start living his life. First thing first he thought
'I want to get some form of sweet dreams'
He grumpily got out of his bed and stormed out to the lounge room and banged on Joey's door.
'Joe!' he yelled, surprised at his sudden burst.
With nothing but a sheet rapped around him Joey peeked through the door.
'Dude, kind of…busy…here.' He closed the door not really picking up Chandler's mood. Chandler banged hard and endlessly against the door.
'Woo, what's the problem?'
'The problem is I have had enough! Either quieten down or tell this babe the ride is over!'
'Chan, is everything all right?' Joey's sheet slipping slightly.
Chandler cocked his head slightly with one eye almost bulging out and Joey knew Chandler wasn't kidding.
'Ok, Ok, I've got it, Night'
Chandler stomped off like a 2 year old who didn't get to watch Play School. He jumped into bed, well tried but managed to jam his toe at the same time. He rolled his eyes.
'Just what I needed' he moaned quietly to himself.
As he calmed down slightly and listened as Joey's date leaving he suddenly began to cry. What? He thought. He didn't cry, what was he doing? He wanted to stop, it wasn't right. Nothing was right. Chandler didn't mind if Joey made noises. Chandler never yelled at his best friend. Chandler was never aggressive. The tears continued. He then saw a shadow under the crack of light from his door and realised Joey must have heard. All he wanted then was Joey to say 'You ok?' Instead the shadow moved away, turned off the lights and suddenly there was silence. The laughter was replaced with tears. The touches replaced with coldness and the squeals replaced with pain.
