"…Seifer."

"Squall."

stare

"…How are you?"

"What is this? Lionheartless actually making small talk?"

"Shut up. You try being leech on by both Rinoa and Laguna for a year and see how well you'll turn out."

"Oh…I can just imagine." Snicker.

"…Really, how are you?" Sigh.

"I'm okay. It's quiet here." Shrug.

"…I can tell." Dryly look around the wilderness they were in, miles away from the closest civilization.

"And you?" Eyes that weren't blue nor green softer than he remember turn to him.

"I'm good. Running a Garden is tiring as expected." Shrug.

"Ah…you're Headmaster now?"

"Cid retired last month." Nod.

"Congratulation."

"Thanks."

"For real, why are you here, Squall?" The taller blond glance at him through his now longer bangs.

"Come back to the Garden." Storm blue eyes sternly held their glaze. He's here for a mission and he's not going to fail.

"…I believe you already know the answer to that, Squally." A slow smile appear, tire and wise beneath the arrogant façade he use to face the world.

"Come back to the Garden with me." The brunet was not going to take 'no' for an answer.

"Squall…things don't work like that." The blond shook his head as he look away from the other, his glaze turn faraway, unseeing of the scenery before him.

"I'm not going to ask the third time, Seifer." Squall said in a dry tone.

"…Take care, Squally-boy."

--

"You're back." Eyes still seeing through thin air watching events no one other than him could witness.

"…Why do you insist on staying in middle of no where? Why won't you come back home with me?" The brunet once again stood beside the boulder where the blond had sat upon like he had done on his previous visits in this clear meadow few miles away from the Orphanage they lived when they were children.

"I'm not going to fit in there."

"So? That didn't stop you before!"

"Things change, Squall. It's better if you leave me be."

"…I'm not giving up."

"…I know…" The blond sigh as he listen to the departing footsteps.

--

"Seifer."

"Squall."

"…I brought off the island. As of now this place is private property, anyone who trespass will be shot on sight." Squall walk up to the blond who still sitting in his usual spot upon the boulder. A whole meter closer than his last visit and into the blond's personal space.

"..." The blond turn his head and look into his eyes.

"You can stay here as long as you want and no one will disturb you." The brunet brought his gloved hand against the blond's cheek, not caressing it, but there.

"…Thank you." Tilting his head and lean into the touch, Squall's breath hitched as he watch a true smile bloom on Seifer's face, making him even more attractive than before.

The golden tint in those blue/green eyes should have worry him but he found himself uncaring as long as the blond continue to smile at him like that.
