Ratchet had always been both the scientist and the medic of Team Prime, as long as he could remember both on Cybertron and now on Earth. He was a huge facet of the remaining faction of Autobots on the planet. He had the logistics and the skills necessary to help carry out the many missions on such an unfamiliar planet, and he knew that quite well. With Optimus as the rightful leader, they knew that his evaluated machinery would be put to good use, to be used in battle that would surely be victorious. Despite his limited knowledge of Earth, he was sure to produce a facet that would ensure the return to the peace that was lost long ago.

The others had never quite understood Ratchet's immediate disdain for the unfamiliar terrain that was now their home; after all, it was the only planet hat was even hospitable to them, even if some thought their human allies were in the way of their missions. Either way, he would work to the circuits so that his inventions would prove to be worthy, to not fail and destroy the very cause that they were fighting for. If they would somehow fail, it would mean certain destruction to be at hand; Ratchet did not want anything that he built to fail. Every detail, every circuit, and every bit of robotics had to be precise and to the highest of quality, to help and protect.

As the team's designated physician, he would help anyone who was badly damaged and restore them to the warrior they were before their skirmish with his Cybertronian knowledge; he would use whatever was tested and proven safe to make them function again. In this, he would stay behind at base and just hope that everyone in Team Prime would make it back in one piece, pressing through the very GroundBridge he designed without a scratch. Everything would be twisted and almost incomprehensible if something went wrong, and time would not be on their side if such a thing would occur.

He was a scientist; therefore he held life in his hands. He knew how to create anything that would be deemed as living, of a facet that was of Cybertron, and rogue medicines of Earth were not of his expertise. Human technology was not his forte, so he wouldn't be the one to play god if there was a human near the brink of nonexistence. He would be stubborn enough to stay within his comfort zone, that being Cybertronian science and treatment, and endangering the human if they were mortally wounded. His pride would have been the death of him if it could, and it was unclear if it would still be. He would not be what they would call a god, even if scientists were known as such and it was an uneasy ground to walk upon for him now. To be able to facilitate anything they would use into make it into something extraordinary to benefit all beings was like a deity, but Ratchet was far from being called one.

No, the only reason he was good at being a scientist was because he wanted to change what he couldn't control and change it little by little, to help Team Prime fight the Decepticons and win the war once and for all; even when no one seemed to want to acknowledge that. It brought him no pleasure to see both Autobots and humans writhing in agony when holding their lives in his hands, and yet he practiced being the medic because he had to, life above all else. And so it was that he would the one to make things into his image, to be the physician/researcher he claimed to be, to remain loyal to the movement of which he was now a vital part of.

Yes, in all creation, Ratchet would know that there is more to learn, otherwise life would be lost because of him, making him no better than the Decepticons. In the end his stubbornness and his prove would prove to be the very thing that damned him.
