'BOBBY and LISA.' (Part 1.)(EP.2)

Bobby saw her as she made her way down the stairs.

The other two had gone to the bar for the drinks rather than wait for a Waiter to come and take their order.

He was looking round the room, a basement room they'd gutted and done up to hold dances in or hired out for parties etc.

'Um. very nice' he thought as he folded his arms and settled more into his chair and thats when he saw her.

He sat up straight again and watched.

She was wearing a crimson dress that he thought must have been sprayed on it fitted so well, high-heeled crimsom shoes that held legs that went on forever.

Her long golden hair flowed down her back, in her ears drop-diamond earrings sparkled as they caught the light.

She was a vision of beauty and confidence but as she got further down the stairs the eyes told him something different.

They looked guarded and sad as though hideing a pain of long standing.

'So my girl.' he thought. 'The makeup and outfit are just a cover are they.'

He understood that.

Was'nt a lot of what he did his 'cover.'

Bruce and Cathy came back with the drinks so his attention was drawn away from the young woman and when he finally looked again he could'nt find her among all the people mingleing around the room.

'She'll have met up with a boyfriend or husband.' he suppossed then remembered he had'nt seen a ring, in fact the only jewellery he'd seen had been those earrings.

'Stop it Bobby.' he told himself. 'Leave being a detective for 'work-time' hours, not when you're out with friends.'

He was on his second dance with Cathy when he spotted her again.

She was sat at a small table on her own.

He'd noticed a few couples come over and spend a few minutes chatting to her before moving on, he'd even seen her shake her head at a couple of men who must have asked her to dance.

It and her had begun to intrigue him again.

"Hey, Bobby you nearly stood on my foot then." Cathy told him. "Are you loseing you're touch?"

"Whoops! Sorry." he replied and laughed as he said. "I'm out of practice so I think I must be."

'I'm out of practice with a lot of things' he thought as he led Cathy back to their table, socialising being one of them and was beginning to wonder whether it was time he went home and left these two to enjoy the rest of the evening on their own.

Bruce had just got back with another round of drinks when the band struck up again.

"I think it's my turn now." he said taking Cathy's hand and leading her back onto the dance floor.

"Watch both feet now Cathy." Bobby called after them and laughed as Bruce turned round and gave him a two-fingered sign.

He sat back in his chair to enjoy his drink and as he did his eyes looked over to the table she was sat at.

She'd just refused another dance with a young man.

'What's her problem.' he wondered. 'Why come to a dance if you're not going to dance.'

So he 'downed' his drink, stood up and made his way to her table.

When he got to the table he noticed she had her head lowered so he lowered his which meant she had to look at him and raise her head as he raised his.

Now he was up close to those sad eyes he saw what a beautiful colour of blue they where and his heart skipped a beat.

"Would you dance with me?" Bobby asked softly, at the same time he'd taken her hand so she had to rise.

"Looks like I've no choice." she replied shrugging her shoulders and walked in front of him to the dance floor...
