Time heals all wounds, doesn't it? Some would answer yes. Time makes the mind forget the scars of the past, be they physical or mental. Professor Stein twisted the screw protruding from his head.

Yes, it may heal the wounds for most people, but for him, time was nothing but a detriment, his mind too keen to forget the scars that covered his body and soul. His hand touched one on his side. A last ditch effort to save her.

His mind wandered to the missing kidney and he sighed. Time healed all wounds? No. It wouldn't heal her loss.


A/N: This is a drabble. Wikipedia defines it as a work of fiction that is exactly 100 words long, with or without the title. In this, Marie became ill, her organs failing and Stein attempted to save her by transplanting his own. Years later he still feels the agony of his failure.
