Hello, everyone! This one's been bouncing around in my skull for a while, so I decided I might as well do it, and do it good!

Prologue: Strange New Form

"Ugh…" Naruto groaned, opening his eyes. What..happened? Narutuo tried lifting his head, but a sharp pain shot through his neck. Naruto winced. Okay, so I'm sore as hell. That's not gonna put me down, though.

Struggling, he managed to get up on his hands and knees. But something seemed off. "Hey, why is everything so big?" he muttered to himself. He tried standing up, but for some reason, his back limbs seemed unable to support his weight. Groaning, Naruto collapsed back down.

What the heck is wrong with me? He tried standing up again, but he ended up collapsing a second time. "Hmm…" Naruto mused, his tail swishing as he did so.

That thought made Naruto pause. Wait a minute… since when have I had a tail? He looked back, and noticed, to his shock, that a thick, bushy, fox-like brown tail with white at its tip was protruding from his rear. Running his eyes over the rest of his body with growing panic, he saw that his body was now covered in brown fur.

W-what?! Naruto frantically thought to himself. He looked down and saw a thick mane of bushy white fur around his neck, beneath which he could see a pair of tiny brown paws. Though the realization that he had paws explained why he couldn't stand, it did little to soothe his anxiety.

"Wh-what's going on?!" He began breathing heavily. He looked back up and saw a small creek that he hadn't noticed before. Coming to a decision, he half walked, half crawled on his paws to the body of water to see his reflection. What he saw took his breath away.

He no longer looked anything like his human self. He had become much smaller, only slightly taller than a foot. His head was small and fox like, except it had a much shorter snout. His head was covered in brown fur, and two erect, fox-like ears protruded from the top. As he had noticed earlier, a thick, bushy white mane of hair encircled his neck. His eyes, while still their signature blue color, had become almond-shaped.

Naruto stared at his reflection, mouth opening and closing as he took in his new appearance. All was silent.

Then, a resounding shout rang out across the strange landscape, startling its even stranger inhabitants.

"WHAT THE HELL?!!!"

Author's Note: This first chapter might make the story seem like it's another Mystery Dungeon fic, but it doesn't take place in that universe. No, it's someplace different and yet very familiar in the Pokemon Universe…
