Anko sunk to the ground by the memorial stone. There carved was so many people she had grown up with who had been killed on the job, the same job he did. It reminded her how lucky they were to be alive. How lucky she was to have people that cared about her. That still didn't help the pain she felt now. The pain caused by one of her friends dying on a mission.

She sat there thinking for what felt like hours until he heard footsteps. She closed her eyes trying to make herself invisible but the footsteps got closer until they were beside her. She felt an arm wrap around her shoulder and pull her against them as they sat. She knew exactly who it was, her boyfriend, her lover, her everything, her Yamato.

"It could have been you." She mumbled.

"But it wasn't. I came home safely." He said pressing a kiss to her temple.

"But what if you don't…"

"I will always come home safely."

"How do you know?"

"I promised you I'd come home."

Anko started to cry and he held her tightly against him.

"I love you. I promise I will always come home just for you. No matter what happens I will protect you. You're my Anko."

"Don't leave me alone..."

"I won't. I won't ever leave you. I can't."

"Why?"

"You mean to much to me. You are my everything."

Anko sighed into him.

"You mean a lot to me too." Anko said.

"Let's go home. I need to get out of these bloody clothes." Yamato said.

"Okay..." Anko mummbled.

"Anko... you've gotta let go if we are going to go home..."

"Don't wanna..."

Yamato smiled then stood up pulling Anko with him. He started to walk but she didn't. He stopped and reached his hand out to her. She finally smiled and took it. They began the walk home.
