"Have you seen Luna? I'm mad about her! About time I told her, since we're both probably going to be dead by dawn!"

Neville ran. He leapt over rubble, over bodies, eyes searching desperately for one person. A flash of blonde hair, a bounding hare-shaped patronus, those ridiculous radish earrings. Throwing charms and hexes around him almost as an afterthought, he came to the front of the castle and kept going, out among the duellers on the grounds. Where could she be? Finally he saw her, down at the lake's edge, battling two Death Eaters at once. He flung curse after curse at them, determined to tell her as soon as possible.

Luna's opponents dropped to the ground and she looked up, searching for her rescuer. When she saw Neville approaching, she brightened. "Oh, Neville! Thank you!"

He cast a Protego shield around the two of them as he reached her, dropping Gryffindor's sword and gripping her by the shoulders. He grinned, almost madly. "Luna! I have to tell you something!"

"Yes Neville?" she responded with an easy smile, so out of place in the grim atmosphere of battle.

"I'm absolutely mad about you!" he announced, adrenalin pounding through his body. "I love you! I've loved you for ages now! And I couldn't go another moment without telling you!"

"Oh!" For a moment she looked surprised, then an enormous smile broke on her face. "So you don't think I'm just odd, like all the others?"

Screams and roars echoed in the background, but for this one moment, Neville had only eyes for Luna. "Luna, you are the oddest, most fascinating, most brilliant, most beautiful girl I've ever met, and I simply adore you!"

Luna looked flattered, almost embarrassed. Before she could say a word, he pulled her forward and kissed her hard. She responded, a smile curving her lips against his. After a moment they broke, just as Neville's Protego charm flickered and died out. They grinned at each other.

"I think we still have jobs to do," Luna commented, nodding her head toward the battle.

"You're right," Neville agreed. "This isn't over, but when it is, we'll have all the time in the world. So we'd better survive it."

"That sounds like an excellent plan." Luna pulled him down for one more quick, gentle kiss, before they pulled themselves apart and went to the aid of their comrades.

Hey guys. My own quick take on this missing scene in the end of Deathly Hallows. I was so psyched they became movie!canon, I love them so much. Also, if I misquoted Neville's line, please forgive me.
