SGA-1 trudged into the infirmary dragging their coats behind them. Every step they took squelched, leaving puddles of water in their wake. By the time they reached the middle of the infirmary all eyes were on them and the slick trail they left.
"What in the world happened to you?" Carson Beckett moved away from the nurse he was talking to.
"Nothing on this world," Lieutenant Colonel John Sheppard shot out cheekily.
Teyla replied quietly, "Monsoon season."
"Uh –"
"Look can we get this over with. I'd like to get out of these clothes before I end up with hypothermia."
Carson rolled his eyes but directed the team over to a group of beds.
"Rodney, if you were going to become hypothermic you would already have done so between whatever soaked you and getting to the infirmary." Teyla inclined her head.
"Besides you're already starting to dry out," John tugged on a wet sleeve with a laugh.
A nurse handed each member a pair of scrubs and pulled the curtains around each bed shut. The team continued to bicker the entire time. In fact they didn't stop as Carson conducted his post-mission exams. Each only took a breather long enough to answer his questions.
Elizabeth stood in front of the group but spoke to Carson, "They okay?"
"Besides minor scratches and a few bruises."
"What about…"
"It's normal."
"Ah," Elizabeth focused back on her premier team. "What happened?"
"Nothing," Ronon replied.
"Nothing? If it's nothing why are you all covered in scratches?" To her surprise the four of them coloured.
"I'm afraid I misremembered the current season on the planet," Teyla said plainly. "Not long after our arrival it began raining quite heavily."
Rodney snorted, "What she really means is you couldn't see two feet in front of you."
"Come on McKay it wasn't that bad."
"Like hell it wasn't."
"Anyway, " Elizabeth stressed, "You still haven't explained how you got so scratched up."
John cleared his throat, "The path we needed to get to the village was washed out. We tried to find an alternate route but…"
"We found a hill and thorn bushes instead," Ronon finished.
"You…" Elizabeth couldn't manage to keep the smile off her face entirely.
"Yes, yes, the lumberjack over there slipped and we all went tumbling after," Rodney snapped. "Can I go now, before one of the inept people in my department blows us up?"
Elizabeth nodded but Carson answered, "Aye, you all need to take it easy for a couple of days but you'll be fine."
As one the team moved towards the doors. As they opened Elizabeth called out after them, "I wanted detailed mission reports sent to me by tomorrow. "
The group cringed but nodded. Elizabeth knew they were going to be fun to read.
