I promised myself I'd begin a story before the end of summer, so here it is.
Some Inspiration from Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Silver Resistance and Tales of Flame. go read those, they're awesome.
I've never really written anything for fun before, so I don't really know what I'm doing. Not that it matters. Anyway, storytime
Antithesis: Tales of a strange land
Chapter 1: Ineffable
Remember that time when you had no explanation of any variety for the chaos encompassing yourself, yet you were somehow calm and rational?
Me neither.
that doesn't matter now anyway-I don't remember anything. Where I came from, where I am, nothing. My mind is blank.
it's just me and this swirly black void.
Have I introduced myself yet? My name is...crap, I don't know that either. What do I do if I need to introduce myself? Then again, I don't feel like I'll encounter anyone else here...wherever here is.
A change in scenery would be nice. Most anything besides this unnerving purple-black darkness would do nicely.
It occurs to me that I might be in space, but that raises the question of how I'm alive. Or maybe I'm not. This could be limbo. I really don't know. It's just me and my thoughts...wait! I could simply be unconscious! Yes, that would explain why I don't seem to have a body. How did I not notice that? Okay, how does one wake themself up?
A slap to the face comes to mind first, but again, I seem to lack either of the required parts.
Everything else I know of involves self-inflicted injury too. Maybe if I just concentrate hard enough, I can wake up. Or bust an artery. But if I actually am dead, why would that matter?
Okay. concentration time. Think of waking up somewhere nice, preferably without hellish black hues flowing about. Time to wake up, strange nameless me.
Ah yes. I can feel my mind going. Departing this bizarre wasteland. Where I will end up or what I do is as much a mystery as my identity.
There is a dim light. It's getting brighter, I may as well go towards it. Now it's extremely intense, this seems like it would blind me if I had eyes.
This must be the part where I wake up.
I was right. I did wake up. Nice to see colours that aren't black or purple. Pale yellow sand surges towards infinity to my left and right. A blazing orange sky accompanies the sunset visible in my peripheral vision. An expanse azure sea surrounds my position, which seems to be submerged in said sea, face-down, starting into the murky depths-
Wait- don't I need air? Crap.
"BLEAUGH!"
Saltwater is disgusting.
after much coughing and sputtering, now seems like a good time to try and determine where the hell I am. Given the ocean that just tried to kill me, the only direction I can travel is towards the forest-like area looming behind me. This beach has nothing important looking for miles in either direction, so I best get moving before the sun goes all the way down.
To the forest I go.
Let's see where this goes.
