Nervous Sleeper
It wasn't that Arthur snored, or got up regularly to use the bathroom, or talked in his sleep. That, Eames could have handled.
The thirty-three year old Brit gritted his teeth as for the umpteenth time, the covers of the bed were yanked off of him—hard. With a huffy sigh, he grabbed a handful of blanket and yanked it back, glaring at Arthur as he did so. He glanced over at the clock on the nightstand—two a.m. Eames groaned and shut his eyes.
What had he done to deserve this?
He, Yusuf, Arthur and Ariadne had taken a job together, and were currently resting—well, trying to rest in Eames's case—in a hotel room in Shanghai, with only two bedrooms.
When the sleeping arrangements, the three men had let Ariadne take one of the rooms for herself. The girl hadn't protested. Shortly afterward, Yusuf had volunteered to take the couch, leaving Arthur and Eames to share the last bed.
Both unwilling to give it up for floor space, they had changed into their pajamas—Eames normally slept in the nude, but at Arthur's insistence he'd put on a pair of boxers—and gotten into bed.
It seemed now that for all the pranks Eames had ever pulled on the young point man, Arthur was now getting his revenge.
Because when he "slept"—A relative term, Eames thought—Arthur didn't just sleep.
He tossed, and turned, and sprawled.
Eames rolled away from Arthur, trying his hardest to ignore the miniature earthquakes coming from the other side of the bed, and for a moment, it seemed that all was still…and then Arthur flopped onto his back. Again.
Eames sat bolt upright, furious.
He turned to face Arthur, putting his hands on the younger man's shoulders and giving him a good shake.
"Arthur!" he barked.
Arthur's eyes snapped open in the darkness, going wide as he saw Eames leaning over him.
"What?" he asked in a loud whisper.
Eames gave him a frustrated, slightly crazed look.
"Stop. Moving," he growled, and rolled back to his side of the bed.
Arthur, completely taken by surprise, blinked.
"Okay," he said.
The other side of the bed, Eames reflected, remained blissfully motionless for the rest of the night.
