Robbie walked into school, surprisingly at a decent time, Monday morning. His cousin, who had just transferred to Hollywood Arts gave him a ride today. His cousin used to live in Nevada but recently moved in with Robbie and his parents after… well, after something happened. Robbie didn't really know why his cousin lived with them now but he was more than okay with it.
Although he was a little nervous. This was the first day his cousin was coming to his school. Robbie didn't like that he felt a tiny bit threatened by his cousin because that wasn't fair, was it? His cousin, who loved him like a brother, was a great person who would do anything for his friends. And, yet, he was fierce, strong, amazingly good-looking, funny, and extremely talented. Robbie didn't like it but he was was worried that his cousin, John, would take away the minimal attention Robbie got away from him.
John grabbed his arm and looked around. "This school really isn't like anything else, is it, Rob?" he asked.
Robbie shook his head. "Nah, it's pretty different but it's a really good school and you deserve to be here. You're really talented," he smiled.
His cousin looked to the ground. "Oh, I don't know about that." And modest, of course.
Robbie tried not to roll his eyes. Even if his cousin didn't get it, he certainly did. His cousin was an amazing singer-songwriter. He was really talented, but just like Tori, he was still nervous to come to school here.
"You're going to be fine," Robbie coaxed. "I promise."
Tori was walking down the hallway. She wasn't usually here this early but Trina needed to talk to someone about something, it was all very mysterious, actually. She saw Robbie and ran up to him. "Hey there, you?" She looked over to the side. "Well, hi, you're not Rex," she smiled brightly. She looked back to Robbie. "Who's this?" she tilted her head.
Robbie smiled. Tori was being really cute, just like always. And not focused on him, still just like always. "This is my cousin, John," he smiled. "He just moved here."
"Oh, well, welcome," Tori blushed. "You know, I was new a while ago, so I know what it's like. I can show you around if you want." she offered.
Robbie tried to intervene, "No, Tori, I can give him a tour of the school, that's okay."
But at that exact moment Jade ran up to him. "Robbie, I have to talk to you," she stated. She looked to the side and did a double-take. "Who's this?" She paused for a moment and grabbed Robbie's hand before he could answer. "Doesn't matter. Tori, just talk to whoever that is. I need to borrow Robbie for a little." Tori gave her a weird look but then looked to John and slowly agreed.
Jade pulled Robbie into the janitor's closet, their usual place to talk in secret. "Robbie, I need your help," Jade begged.
Robbie gave her a confused look. "Well, what's the problem?"
Jade looked down at the ground and started turning red. "Well, you know Beck and I broke up yesterday, right?"
"Yeah…" Robbie was still confused where she was possibly going with this. Did she want help getting back together because Beck needed some time apart and nothing could change that.
"I want to show Beck I'm over him," Jade continued.
"I'm sorry, where do I fit into this plan?" Robbie asked.
"No interrupting!" Jade yelled at him and Robbie recoiled quickly. "I need you to ask me on a date," Jade looked up at the ceiling now.
"You need me to go out with you? Really?" Robbie asked.
"Yes," Jade hissed. "Just for a little. I need to make it seem like I'm over Beck and everyone here is scared of me. Plus, it has to be someone Beck really knows, so it hurts even more."
Now Robbie was looking at the ground in embarrassment. "Jade, I don't know about this. I don't want to help you deceive Beck." His face turned even more red. "Plus, what about Cat?"
"Oh," Jade said, in her signature mocking tone. "I see. Me getting back together with the love of my life isn't as important as your little crush," she growled.
"Not when my little crush might the be the love of my life," Robbie argued. He paused for a second after, "But I will help you out, but no kissing," he shook his head.
"Ew, Robbie, good. That wouldn't have happened anyway. Yeah, just one date. You casually mention it to Beck and he'll get so jealous." She starts laughing, "It should work perfectly."
"Yeah, okay. I'm going to find Cat and try to explain this to her." Robbie walked out of the closet and left her there. He normally wouldn't leave someone mid-conversation, he knows how much that hurts, but Caterina Valentine was too important. And, now, he had to worry about his cousin. He hadn't told John about his crush, what if he stole her away?
Meanwhile, Tori and John were walking around school. He was really something, thought Tori, and incredibly talented, too! It was weird that he was Robbie's cousin but maybe she could try to hang out with him alone, anyway. "John?" she asked as they were walking through the Asphalt Cafe.
"Yeah?"
"I was wondering, since the only person you really know is Robbie, do you maybe want to hang out tonight? Get some coffee or something?" she asked.
Tori tried to read his face but he didn't really seem to respond in any way, positive or negative. "Yeah, sounds fun. I have plans with Robbie, though. Do you mind if he comes, too?"
Oh, Tori thought, at least he was asking. That was something. It was really hard for her to get past the fact that they were cousins, though. Sure, she and Robbie were friends but he was a weirdo and she never really knew how to feel about him. He was a sweetheart but Rex was an annoying sleaze and she knew that was part of Robbie as well. What if his cousin was the same? Although, he didn't have a puppet. She could judge for herself tonight…
"That's totally fine, I love Robbie!" She cringed at herself. She just wanted to see enthusiastic but she might have overdone it a little.
Now John looked noticeably upset. "Oh, do you have a crush on him or something?" He tried his best to play it off but this girl did seem kind of cool. He could completely see himself with her, but he would never do anything to hurt Robbie.
"Oh," Tori started. "No, no. I'm sorry, I just wanted to seem excited about tonight. Robbie and I Are just friends, though, I'm totally single," she smiled. She cringed again internally. Did she really just say that to someone?
Now John just looked uncomfortable. Tori felt like she was totally blowing this. "Okay," he said with slight hesitation. "Alright, good. I'm looking forward to it."
Luckily Robbie came running back them and they didn't have to stand next to each other in silence. "Hey guys, have you seen Cat?" he asked. "I really need to talk to her," he whined.
"I think I saw her heading to Sikowitz," Tori commented. "We should probably go, too."
Robbie walked in between them and his cousin whispered to him, "I have a date with Tori tonight. Is that cool? You're still coming to, as a buffer."
Of course he already had a date, even though he had been there 20 minutes. Robbie rolled his eyes and whispered back, "Yeah, I have your back," he smiled.
