Love
The night was a cold one,
Filled with fear and with anger.
He ran to the woods,
Not worrying about danger.
The evening was awful,
He hated what he'd seen.
For he was too slow,
And pondered what could've been.
She stood with another,
Who was gentle as a feather
And realized that he
Should have treated her better.
To hide his feelings for her,
He belittled and deprecated,
Just to see how much
He thought he had fabricated.
He thought for a moment
She might actually care
But he was mistaken,
When he saw her there.
The one she was with
Was tender and true.
And he thought in his head
'Her heart belongs to you.
How could I have been so foolish?
How could I think to see?
That you'd leave someone so kind
For someone like me?
I am horrid, I am mean
I'm everything he isn't.
Compared to the greatness of him,
I'm worse than a peasant.'
As he watched her being touched,
Him holding her arm,
He ran off to the woods,
Not worrying about harm.
Preparing to enter
The water he was seeing.
He wanted to end it,
The misery, by dying.
Just as he readied himself
For the one, final leap,
A small something touched him,
And kept him from the blue deep.
Her hand was on his shoulder.
Her fingers gently pressing.
And he lingered just a little
To feel her soft caressing
And something that he needed
Came from her loving hand.
Something he did not expect.
Something he didn't plan.
From it came a warmth, that spread
It came from her holding touch
It gave him something he needed.
Needed very much.
It warmed him to his fingers,
They felt like they had frozen
And even over life itself,
This was something he would have chosen.
And as the warmth spread through him,
It came to the coldest part.
It was then that her simplest touch,
Came upon his heart.
The fear began to rise in him,
And thoughts ran through his mind:
'Could it be she hated him,
Even though she was being so kind?'
He desperately tried to run away,
But her hand held him firmly there.
Then its mate approached him,
And brushed back his black hair.
She pulled his head towards hers,
He looked deep in her eyes.
And he knew right then and there
That they could tell no lies.
He saw in them an emotion,
And it was clearly shown,
The love that he had yearned for,
And yet had never known.
She smiled at him bashfully,
Realizing all they'd needlessly missed.
And as she pulled his face to hers,
They tenderly...lovingly...
Kissed.
*A/N: Okay. This is my first completed attempt at a fic in the "Harry Potter Realm." I have another that I'm working on, and I started that one first. So I'd really appreciate any and all feedback, be it good or bad. With the bad, I can learn something. With the good, that's icing on the cake. Lots of icing. I live off feedback. Of course, after reading this, you might not want me to. See how negative I am? ;)
*A/N2: This is also my first poem. So if it doesn't run smoothly, that's why. "Tsk tsk. Excuses, excuses." I hope you enjoyed it.
*Disclaimer: Nothing is mine, except maybe the girl. I didn't have any specific character in mind when I wrote this. Only a figment a my imagination.
